I recently published an article in The Gateway Pundit titled The All-Too-Short List of Conservative, Anti-Globalist Leaders*, profiling the few world leaders who champion national sovereignty, secure borders, economic protectionism, and oppose globalist institutions like the UN and the EU.

Many are ethnic nationalists and advocates for religious values, traditional family, and cultural preservation.

My original list included Donald Trump, Viktor Orbán, Jair Bolsonaro, Andrzej Duda, Giorgia Meloni, Marine Le Pen, Aleksandar Vučić, Javier Milei, Nayib Bukele, and Benjamin Netanyahu. Based on reader feedback, I’ve added several names, including Vladimir Putin.

Readers asked why I excluded Nigel Farage (UK), André Ventura (Portugal), Tino Chrupalla and Alice Weidel (Germany), Santiago Abascal (Spain), Edmundo Urrutia and Maria Machado (Venezuela), and Maxime Bernier (Canada).

SpaceX took a big step towards full reusability of space launchers on 13 October, a step towards a transformation in accessing space far more cheaply, frequently and with big payloads.

The remarkably successful fifth test flight of the Starship launcher on that day saw a spectacular recovery of the rocket’s 300-ton first stage, Super Heavy, into the arms of the launch pad gantry. The second stage, also called Starship, meanwhile climbed and accelerated to almost orbital velocity and splashed down precisely in the targeted Indian Ocean location off Western Australia. This took the company closer to landing second stages for re-use.

The full reusability of Starship will dramatically reduce launch costs. That means it’s possible to consider new types of activity in space that simply were not viable technologically or were too expensive with past launch architecture.

Most of the envisaged applications are civilian, but possible military applications include launching surveillance and other satellites far more cheaply, and therefore in greater numbers, and even urgent delivery of large payloads across Earth with suborbital flights.

Once SpaceX achieves the capability for one Starship to take fuel from others in orbit, a single mission will be able to deliver up to 100 metric tons or 100 people to the Moon, to Mars and potentially beyond. Continue…

It’s hard to believe there can be an Ontario education minister more disconnected with the reality of what is happening in the province’s classrooms, more uninformed about those who have made racism an industry and more tone-deaf than Stephen Lecce.

But new education minister Jill Dunlop appears to be just that person.

Faced with a genuine opportunity to reform the DEI-induced toxicity at the Toronto District School Board and the pervasive anti-Semitism in far too many Toronto schools, she instead announced that the man who has been a huge part of the problem, race advocate Patrick Case, would be the one to conduct a review of the board’s field trip policies.

This comes in the wake of what was supposed to be an Indigenous field trip on Sept. 18. It was sold to parents as an excursion to bring to light the mercury poisoning on Grassy Narrows community. But students from 15 schools were pressured to march and chant, “From Turtle Island to Palestine, occupation is a crime.”

Some students came home with “Zionist Kills” stickers.

The federal government will soon ban flavoured vape products across Canada, according to Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Ya’ara Saks.

The announcement comes over three years after the Trudeau government first pledged to usher in new restrictions in 2021.

The minister’s promise was in response to a press conference held in Ottawa earlier this month by an anti-tobacco coalition that demanded Saks either resign or immediately implement the ban.

“We have made a commitment from the start to restrict flavours. We haven’t wavered from that,” Ya’ara Saks told CBC News last week. “We will have this in place soon. I don’t anticipate this is going to take much longer.”

However, Saks provided no specific timeline.

The anti-tobacco groups blamed the minister’s failure to finalize regulations planned for earlier this year as the result of Saks succumbing to pressure from the vaping industry.

Health Canada initially pledged to reduce vaping flavours to just mint, menthol and tobacco in June 2021, citing a “rapid increase in youth vaping in Canada,” however, nothing materialized after that. Continue…

The majority of Canadians think that there are “too many” immigrants in Canada, according to a new Leger poll, a sentiment that has steadily been on the rise since 2019.

The Leger survey published on Wednesday was conducted for the Association of Canadians Studies and revealed a rather dramatic national consensus on the issue.

While just over a fifth of respondents said that they thought Canada’s immigration levels were “about the right number,” and around 2% there were “too few” immigrants, 65% said there are too many.

“The rise in the extent to which Canadians believe that there are too many immigrants is continuing and has yet again reached a new height,” chief executive of the ACS Jack Jedwab told the National Post.

The UCP Minister cited a May 2024 Leger poll that indicated one-third of Albertans are in favour of banning tabulators during elections.

Multiple reporters falsely told McGiver that this meant two-thirds of Albertans don’t support the ban. However, the poll indicated that one-third of respondents opposed it, with almost one-third “unsure.”

Assuming it can be implied that “unsure” respondents have doubts over the impact that tabulators have over election integrity, the Leger poll revealed that over 50% of Albertans have concerns over the issue.

Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly known as Ryerson University, is launching what may be the world’s first DEI med school where prospective students will be chosen not on merit, but rather on the colour of the skin or ancestry. Of the available 94 seats in the program, 75% of students will be chosen from “equity-seeking” admissions streams which favour black, indigenous and other minorities. The remaining 25% of students will be chosen through the general admissions stream.

Racial discrimination is always wrong and racial quotas are a terrible idea, but when it comes to teaching the next generation of doctors, could there possibly be anything more insane than this?

Susan Holt’s Liberal Party of New Brunswick has won the province’s 2024 election, marking a significant shift in leadership and ending Blaine Higgs’ pursuit of a third consecutive term.

The victory makes Holt the first female premier in New Brunswick’s history, following a closely contested race.

The Liberal Party’s triumph signals a change in direction for the province after nearly six years of Progressive Conservative governance.

The Liberals secured the required number of seats to form a majority government in the Legislative Assembly leading in 31 ridings. Meanwhile, Higgs’ Progressive Conservatives only won in 16 ridings and the Greens won 2 seats.

Holt was elected in her riding of Fredericton South-Silverwood while Higgs lost to Liberal candidate Aaron Kennedy in Quispamsis.

The Liberals saw a significant increase from the 17 seats the party held after the 2020 provincial election when they were the official opposition to the Conservatives’ majority government.

New Brunswick’s Legislative Assembly consists of 49 seats, with 25 needed to form a majority government. In 2020, Higgs’ party won 27 seats.

Holt’s victory comes after a 33-day campaign where the Liberals emphasized improved access to healthcare, increased affordability measures, a new housing strategy, and a reformed education system.

Chinese Drone Maker DJI Sues Pentagon Over Military Designation

Chinese drone giant DJI sued the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) on Oct. 18 for including the company in the department’s list of Chinese military companies.

DJI, which makes up more than half of the U.S. commercial drone market, said it’s “neither owned nor controlled by the Chinese military.”

The company also said it’s not a contributor to China’s military-civil fusion strategy or its military modernization.

The China-based company argued that the DOD’s designation is “arbitrary and capricious” and asked a district court in Washington to order its deletion from the list.

In 2021, Congress passed legislation requiring the Pentagon to compile a list of Chinese military companies operating in the United States.

DJI was added to the list in October 2022. According to the DJI complaint, the Pentagon renewed the designation in January this year despite the company’s 16-month effort seeking removal from the list.

The drone maker said the designation has “caused significant and ongoing harm,” reflected in canceled contracts and “pervasive stigmatization” of the company and its employees.

Canada’s high capital gains rates, corporate and digital service taxes could be driving investment away, according to an international report that ranks tax competitiveness among developed nations.

According to the International Tax Foundations’ 2024 International Tax Competitiveness Index, Canada’s tax competitiveness fell two ranks down to 17th out of 38 other Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries.

The study examined changes in each country’s tax systems and graded each based on its competitiveness and neutrality.

“A competitive tax code is one that keeps marginal tax rates low,” the report said. “If a country’s tax rate is too high, it will drive investment elsewhere, leading to slower economic growth. In addition, high marginal tax rates can impede domestic investment and lead to tax avoidance.”

The report defines a neutral tax system as one that raises revenue but minimizes economic distortions in the market.

“This means that it doesn’t favour consumption over saving, as happens with investment taxes and wealth taxes,” the report said. “It also means few or no targeted tax breaks for specific activities carried out by businesses or individuals.”

When a tax system influences investors and businesses to make decisions they otherwise wouldn’t make without those taxes, it causes economic distortions. Continue…

Following an outpouring of emails from concerned parents, the Durham District School Board rejected a motion to remove public questions during meetings and instead passed a motion for a report defining the public’s right to participate.

A September Governance and Policy Committee meeting caught the attention of a local parental rights activist group after it caught wind of a recommendation to amend bylaws and remove the question period from the school board meeting agendas.

The DDSB Concerned Parents Facebook group urged its community members to attend the next meeting on Monday when the proposal was up for a vote. The group told its members to send letters to the trustees to vote against removing sections 5.12.13 to 5.12.16 of the DDSB bylaws, which would eliminate “the taxpayers right to ask questions at school board meetings.”

“While I may not attend every meeting or regularly pose questions, I have exercised my right to do so in the past, and I fully intend to protect this right going forward,” the letter said. “As a taxpayer, I believe this proposal infringes on my rights, including my Charter Rights to freedom of expression, which takes precedence over any such policy changes.”

Ontario laws on school board committee meetings include the right for the public to participate in public meetings. However, the laws do not specify that this must be done during a question-and-answer period during meetings.

None of the trustees voted to second the motion to remove the question period from the bylaws, defeating the motion. Continue…

Minorities less likely than white counterparts to view drug criminalization as racist

The narrative that criminalizing drugs is rooted in racism has been flipped on its head, according to a recent poll conducted in British Columbia with fewer minorities thinking that treating drug use as a crime was racist than their white counterparts.

Mainstreet Research conducted a survey in B.C. last month for the Centre For Responsible Drug Policy and the MacDonald-Laurier Institute asking residents three questions, one of which was “Do you agree or disagree that criminalizing drugs is racist?”

Of the more than 12,000 British Columbians who participated, Indigenous respondents were the most likely to disagree that such a policy was racist, according to the poll’s preliminary findings.

The Drugs and Racial Justice Report has thus far arrived at the opposite conclusion claimed by harm reduction activists and many public health officials as non-white British Columbians overwhelmingly don’t perceive the criminalization of drugs to be racially motivated.

Only 26% of non-white respondents agreed that drug criminalization is racist, compared to the 55% who disagreed. Continue…

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman isn’t giving up on his controversial digital ID project, Worldcoin. He, or, rather, formally – the startup behind it, that he is behind, i.e., Tools for Humanity – has instead gone for a rebrand.

Worldcoin is now called “World” – so good luck (re)searching that online. Still, “world” combined with the concept of “proof of personhood” and Altman’s name should return some interesting results.

What we already know is that World(coin) works by hoovering up people’s most sensitive, unique biometric data, particularly that contained in their eyes. The original idea was to incentivize people to participate by offering some crypto change in return.

But now, the focus is reported to have moved away from that (apparently failed) direction to producing iris-scanning devices. The task of those is still “proof of personhood” – tech that provides digital ID. And a recent event held in San Francisco heard all about it.
