In an explosive admission, Parliament’s Canada-China Committee has confirmed that Canada’s spy agency, CSIS, issued a direct and unheeded warning to senior health officials in August 2018, raising concerns about “insider threat activities” linked to Dr. Xiangguo Qiu and her husband, Keding Cheng.

This alert, delivered seven months before the couple’s network—with connections to the highest levels of Chinese biological weapons research—coordinated the shipment of live Ebola and Henipah virus samples from Canada’s high-security National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), highlighted risks posed by their continued access to sensitive materials.

“CSIS held a briefing for personnel responsible for security at [Public Health Canada],” in August 2018 that “focused on foreign interference and included possible indicators of insider threat activities, as well as other security risks,” according to CSIS’s submission to the Committee. Speaking about the 'hundreds of churches' that have been 'set on fire across Canada' in the last number of years, Conservative MP Leslyn Lewis questioned why the Liberals seem completely unconcerned.

One of Canada’s most prominent pro-life MPs has called out the Trudeau government for its apparent lack of support for an anti-arson bill which aims to curb the rash of church burnings plaguing Christians in the country.

In an X post Monday, Conservative MP Leslyn Lewis pointed out that under the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, church burnings have shot up “100 percent,” and that the government does not seem to have expressed any “concern” at all.

“In the last several years, hundreds of churches and other places of worship have been set on fire across Canada. Under this Liberal government, these crimes have increased by over 100%,” wrote Lewis on X. Continue…

Edmonton school board, teachers union defy parental rights policies

The Edmonton Public School Board is gearing up for a fight with Alberta parents and Premier Danielle Smith’s government by opposing a series of parental rights policies.

The school board issued a motion on Tuesday that attacked the right of parents to be informed about their children using different pronouns while at school and giving them more control over sex education.

The motion quoted Senator Kristopher Wells saying that the policies, “if passed, they would be some of the most extreme anti-trans and anti-2SLGBTQ policies, not only in Canada, but in the world.”

The policies provide additional protection for youth in healthcare, education, and sports. One key change is from the current policy where parents can opt their children out of lessons that teach sexual orientation and gender identity curricula. Parents will now have to opt them in.

The school board’s motion said that this needs to be reverted immediately.

“Allowing parents/guardians to opt out of sexual education, is a long-standing practice that works,” reads the motion. “The process is transparent, respects student well-being as well as parental choice. There are numerous research studies that show the teaching of sexual health education contributes to safer sex practices, fewer sexually transmitted infections, and reduced teen pregnancies.”

However, nothing in Alberta’s bills would remove sexual education. Parents would just have more say in what kind of sexual education their children learn about.

Executive Director of Parents for Choice in Education, John Hilton-O’Brien, criticized the “evidence” provided in the EPSB’s motion, saying that it relied heavily on surveys, which doesn’t speak to cause and effect. He said that the evidence provided had been “destroyed” by the Cass Review — which Smith previously called “the most comprehensive review of the medical literature and the science behind” the impacts of transitioning on children. Edmonton police investigating “hate-motivated” arson, mischief at Polish Catholic Church

The Edmonton police are asking for the public to help identify suspects allegedly involved in a series of “hate-motivated” mischief and arson attacks at the Holy Rosary church in Central Edmonton.

Police say there have been three incidents at the church since December, including an incident where the word “burn” was spray painted on a Pope John Paul II statue and a hand-crafted nativity scene was set on fire.

A representative of the Edmonton Police Service told True North Tuesday that arrests have yet to be made, and the investigation is still ongoing.

“At this time, it’s not clear if any of the events are connected, although the church has been affected by an unusually high number of mischief and arson incidents,” the spokesperson said.

According to an EPS news release, the church has been subject to two vandalism attacks just days apart in September of this year as well as the destruction of a “culturally significant” nativity display in December of 2023.

“On Sep. 18, 2024 at approximately 9 p.m., a male and a female suspect approached the church and damaged a security camera before being startled by an approaching vehicle and fleeing the scene,” the release said. Continue…
