Chevron v NRDC Overturned
In a significant decision, the Supreme Court has overturned the 40-year-old precedent of Chevron deference, established in Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. (1984). This doctrine allowed federal courts to defer to reasonable interpretations of ambiguous statutes by administrative agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
