>The Israeli government is planning to establish a base in the unrecognized territory of Somaliland to counter threats from Yemen's Houthis and strengthen security, according to an article in Middle East Monitor.
>To gain permission to do so, Israel could establish diplomatic relations with Somaliland, which controls northern Somalia and has important access to the Gulf of Aden.
>It is a former British colony bordering Ethiopia, Somalia and Djibouti. Somaliland's strategic geographic location makes such a scenario quite possible, given the drone strikes from Yemen in Israel.
>In addition, the Israelis will gain control over the situation in the Gulf waters, where, as is known, Iranian warships and cargo ships are actively operating, delivering weapons, oil and supplies to Yemen and Syria.
