Sounds about right. The warrior is simply someone who will do what it takes to create a world in which those they care about can live. If that requires fighting then that is what they will do, but that same ideal will manifest in many other ways through their whole lives.

Do you fight to destroy that which you hate, or do you fight to protect that which you love?

Human society, by necessity as it has been designed, runs on an entirely different set of rules than the real world does. For this reason it is necessary for people to provide an interface between the real world and society. However, due to the steady encroachment of technology upon people's lives, and the exponentially increasing demands which it places upon them, society is becoming too bloated for anyone to be capable of sustaining it. Whatever must be done to get there, the only way this can end well is for the society that is created to be simple enough that it does not intrude unduly upon people's lives. Such limited government was one of the founding principles of the USA, yet is now at threat from bad actors seeking to exploit modern technologies to obtain power over their rivals.

We can do better. Cut deeper. This problem is surfacing within every society simultaneously, as the "powers" which computers impart upon those who seek to exploit them expose the fatal flaw in the basic nature of conflict within a man made society. Such as, it must be dealt with everywhere simultaneously. It's a tall order for sure, but that's the nature of the beast we face.

As a child I wanted to learn more about the world so that we could successfully integrate computer technology into human society without needlessly victimizing innocent people. I never imagined that would lead me into conflict with the people running society.

Right. The way that they're being designed and used is simply exposing a fatal flaw in how human society has been designed and used right from the beginning.
