In Roman mythology, Quirinus was a deity associated with war and warfare, and his name translates to "spear". The name Quirinus is derived from the Latin word quirīs, which was the name of Roman citizens in peacetime. The name may also be connected to the Sabine town of Cures, or it may be a contraction of Co-Virīnus, which means "protector of the community".

The Quirinalia was a festival in ancient Rome that celebrated the god Quirinus and was held on February 17

Quirinus was an epithet for Janus. Janus was always depicted with two faces. One looking to the past and the other to the future. Janus was known as the Alpha and the Omega. He presided over the beginning and ending of conflict, and hence war and peace. The gates of a building in Rome named after him (not a temple, as it is often called, but an open enclosure with gates at each end) were opened in time of war, and closed to mark the arrival of peace. God of doorways. As a god of transitions, he had functions pertaining to birth and to journeys and exchange, and in his association with Portunus, a similar harbor and gateway god, he was concerned with travelling, trading and shipping.

Janus had no flamen or specialised priest (sacerdos) assigned to him, but the King of the Sacred Rites (rex sacrorum) himself carried out his ceremonies. Janus had a ubiquitous presence in religious ceremonies throughout the year. As such, Janus was ritually invoked at the beginning of each ceremony, regardless of the main deity honored on any particular occasion.

A great archway called the "Arch of Janus Quadrifrons" was built near the mouth of the Cloaca near the Tiber River. This was later discovered to be a symbolic representation of Janus, Roman god of Doors, guarding the sewer beneath Rome (Rome, Cloaca Maxima).

The Cloaca Maxima, meaning 'Great Sewer' in Latin, is one of the world's earliest sewage systems, originally constructed in ancient Rome around the 6th century BCE.

DJT- “Drain the Swamp should be changed to Drain the Sewer - it’s actually much worse than anyone ever thought, and it begins with the Fake News!”

Kamala routinely talks about the 2 visions of her campaign which mirrors Janus' 2 heads. "Truly, this campaign is about two very different visions for our nation (applause): one focused on the future, the other focused on the past. (Applause.)"

Remember Louise Bourgeois’s bronze Janus Fleuri, 1968, suspended over Freud’s couch at The Freud Museum, London.

You also have Quirinus Quirrell from Harry Potter, who at one point had 'he who shall not be named' face on the back of his head, curiously resembling Janus.

In one of the Resident Evil Movies Alice's name was Janus Prospero. The first Resident Evil Movie had a ton of references to Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
