Biden Embraces Trump Lawfare: βWe Gotta Lock Him Upβ
President Joe Biden let the veil slip during a Thursday stop in New Hampshire.
Biden told a small crowd βWe gotta lock him upβ during a screed on his nemesis Donald Trump, according to several reports.
The President had restrained himself from publicly endorsing jailing Trump for years.
Biden later collected himself and attempted to clean up the mess he created.
βLock up him politically,β Biden said, reports Stephen Michael. βLock him out, thatβs what we have to do.β
Biden has denied White House involvement in the lawfare against Trump, which has continued after Biden was deposed atop the ticket for his Vice President Kamala Harris.
But in November 2022, after reports surfaced Trump would seek a return to the White House, Biden pledged to pursue measures beyond the ballot box to prevent Trumpβs reelection.
During a November 9, 2022 press conference, Biden, when asked about the prospects of Trump running against him in 2024, said, βWe just have to demonstrate that he will not take power, if he does run, making sure he, under legitimate efforts of our Constitution, does not become the next president again [sic].β
That sensational pledge preceded an eruption of extraordinary legal assaults on Trump, most vividly represented by a trio of events on a single date β November 18, 2022.
On that day, just over a week after Bidenβs pledge and Trump subsequently entering the race, three events, two which took place behind closed doors, occurred β suggesting White House coordination.
Necessarily out in the open, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to investigate Trump on November 18.
But two other important developments took place that day behind the scenes. Matthew Colangelo β the former third-highest ranking official at the U.S. Department of Justice β resigned to take a position in the Manhattan prosecutorβs office. And Nathan Wade β the former Special Prosecutor for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis β met on official business for eight hours with the White House counselβs office.
Wadeβs only duty in Willisβs office was overseeing her prosecution of Trump.
Smith revived investigations into Trump, ultimately pursuing novel legal theories to do so. His prosecutions in Washington and Florida have hit roadblocks, with a federal judge in Florida dismissing his case against Trump for retaining classified documents.
Colangelo similarly revived Manhattan DA Alvin Braggβs investigations into Trump, after Bragg reportedly struggled to find a prosecutable crime. Colangelo played a critical role in Trumpβs conviction on 34 felony counts β giving Biden and now the Harris campaign fodder they have used countless times on the stump. Yet that case has also hit roadblocks and may be overturned on appeal.
Wade was hired by Willis to handle the Trump case, although that case has hit numerous snags inside and outside the courtrooms. Wade was ordered to resign from the case by a Georgia judge after his sexual relationship with Willis came to light.
Among other prosecutions and lawsuits, Trump also faced efforts to remove him on the ballot on dubious Fourteenth Amendment grounds, although the Supreme Court halted those efforts.

With the election on the horizon, Americaβs eyes are glued to battleground states. Days after the national election, however, a new battleground will emerge in the United States Senate. Even if Donald Trump wins the White House, he could quietly lose his ability to govern in the Senate.
With Sen. Mitch McConnell stepping down, Senate Republicans will choose a new leader for the first time in 18 years this November. With this decision, we have an opportunity to decide how the Senate conducts business going forward β and the ability to either strengthen or undermine a second Trump term.
The Stakes
Should Trump win a second term, he will have only four years to implement his agenda and reverse the tide of radical progressivism swamping our government and weakening our country. With the uncertainty of 2026 midterms and the inevitable legislative lethargy during campaign seasons, those four years for lawmaking suddenly become much shorter. We cannot afford to lose any time in energetically passing America First policies.
The Divide Within
Practically all Senate Republicans understand that four more years of recycled Biden policies would be a disaster for millions of Americans and their families. But not every Republican in Congress is aligned with Trumpβs vision for the country. Some see themselves as stewards of a more moderate brand of conservatism. Still others disagree on policy areas from trade to immigration to foreign policy.
The Path Forward
How Senate Republicans choose to conduct business going forward β and whom they choose as a leader β will determine whether those disagreements lead to infighting that foils President Trumpβs agenda, allowing Democrats the upper hand in policy battles. If we hope to quickly pass a legislative agenda that will make America great again, we need to find a way to resolve and overcome these differences.
Even with a Senate majority, Republicans will probably lack the 60 votes needed to pass most legislation, including crucial spending bills that define what the executive branch can and canβt do. Trumpβs second term could turn into a series of compromises that accomplish little.
