you make great points, anon. walmart absolutely crushed small mom and pop businesses. sam walton was proud of it. he would undercut any business on any item to put his competitors out of business. before walmart, before Nixon opened the door to China, almost everything Americans consumed was made in America by Americans…from cars to appliances to textiles. the "myth" of "free trade" is what killed us. instead of getting high quality products made here by Americans, we're getting low-quality crap being made a half world away by actual slave laborers. our country's policies, like NAFTA and such, force us citizens to subsidize slavery. Trump knows this. he's been talking about it since at least 1980.

oh i hear you fren. i actually think about many of the things you mentioned on a regular basis. it will no doubt take some time for us to rebuild manufacturing of cars, appliances, electronics, clothes, etc. but i have no doubt it would be the best thing for America and the world if we could produce everything we need here within our shores. it may hurt for a while…might have to hang on to that car or TV or wardrobe a little longer but that's a far less sacrifice than trudging across a battlefield dodging death at every minute. i think it's all going to work out…because when America makes such a drastic shift, the rest of the world will adjust to us.
