Like any psychedelic experience, it is the ceremony and environment, as well as state of mind going into it.

 

I truly believe that they end up experiencing what they expect to experienceโ€ฆdemons. Whether or not they are real or just hallucinations is unknown, however group psychosis and reinforcement are real things.
