Dr. Reavis is the founder and director of Intrapsychic in San Diego, and has worked in the field of compulsive sexual behavior for 25 years. His staff is trained in tenets of Attachment Theory, and each uses exploratory psychotherapy with patients who seek treatment.

Intrapsychic provides treatment to approximately 300 patients weekly, and these men have in common deficits in their ability for intimacy with others and some kind of ‘problematic’ sexual behavior.

Dr. Reavis was the first treatment provider in San Diego to be selected to treat the highest risk sexual offenders in San Diego County, those men released to the community after stays in prison hospital attendant to California Welfare and Institutions Code Sexually Violent Predator Statutes. In 2014 he was awarded the contract to treat adult males investigated for or charged with crimes of child pornography, by United States Federal Pretrial Services. In the same year San Diego County Department of Probation awarded him the contract to evaluate adult male offenders released from prison to county probation, under California Assembly Bill 109. In 2018 he was awarded the contract, by United States Federal Probation, to evaluate the recidivism risk of, and treat, adult male, post-sentence, child pornography offenders. Today, he is the sole provider in San Diego County who evaluates and treats adult male child pornography offenders, men who are living in the community under United States Federal Probation supervision.

Dr. Reavis has completed thousands of psychological evaluations on sexually compulsive men, has offered his opinions to state and federal courts on thousands of occasions, has testified frequently in criminal court, and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed professional journals. Finally, he was trained in the assessment of psychopathy by Robert D. Hare, Ph.D. the world’s expert on the construct, in his laboratory at University of British Columbia, in 1997.
