Louie Gohmert: Lisa Page giving us 'more insights' into Russia investigation

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said Tuesday that former FBI lawyer Lisa Page has been more helpful than FBI agent Peter Strzok when it comes to answering their questions about how the FBI handled the Russia and Hillary Clinton investigations. "She's a more contrite person," he added. "But make no mistake … she's a Democrat. She wanted Hillary to win and she did not want Trump to win, and that's been obvious."

Gohmert said Page has not contradicted Strzok, with whom she had an affair that was discovered by the Justice Department's inspector general. The two texted each other anti-Trump messages, which led to GOP claims that the FBI was biased against President Trump and for Clinton. But Gohmert said Page has generally been more cooperative, which he indicated has opened more doors in the House Republican probe.

Gohmert said, for example, that there are other FBI supervisors involved in the GOP investigation besides Strzok, although he didn't name them. He also indicated that former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper could be involved. "When I hear Brennan or Clapper either saying the kind of things they've been saying recently, then it tells me, wow, we must be getting close to them," Gohmert said. "Those guilty dogs are barking pretty loud."

Gohmert said Page's closed-door testimony in the House on Friday and Monday was at times so frank that FBI lawyers tried to keep her from answering. "There were times the FBI lawyers would be reaching for the button to mute her comment and she would answer before the thing could mute her comment," he said. "I think she'll be a good witness," he added. "I don't know that we're going to have a public hearing with her. But the important thing is to continue to gather the evidence."

I understand what you are saying here, also let us not forget a couple of other things, she and Ivanka were close friends. (What did she share with her?) I also recall, during the debates, Trump held his tongue about Clinton, in favor of respect for Chelsea. (What did he know from conversations with Ivanka?) On the other hand her actions come off as entitled and there are reports of how she treats people, just like her mother, but would she throw her under the bus in favor of protecting herself. I do believe she should answer for her actions, just like everyone else, however she knows more than most given the close intimate relationship she has with both of them so no doubt she also knows who did what when. I certainly would be climatic and interesting to see her sitting in that chair flapping her jaws. I bet it would be the highest viewer participation in history.

While I understand what you are saying, my thought process is that he gets confined after her testimony, she would be a star witness, it doesn't matter if she states what she knows behind closed doors or in an open hearing, she's already got a target on her.

New Details Emerge About Mossad Raid to Obtain Iranian Nuclear Secrets

A new report sheds light on how Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency acquired secret documents pertaining to Iran’s nuclear program. It reveals Mossad agents monitored a Tehran warehouse containing the nuclear documents for a year before launching a previously disclosed raid in January. The raid yielded a massive haul of intelligence: about 50,000 pages and 163 compact discs, according to the New York Post. Iran claims the documents are fraudulent, but American and British intelligence officials say the intelligence is genuine. Iranian officials limited work on the country’s nuclear program in 2003, but documents reveal senior scientists made plans to continue some research in secret. "The work would be divided in two: covert (secret structure and goals) and overt," one Iranian scientist wrote in a memo. The documents have heightened Israel’s distrust of Iran’s intentions and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which Iran, the U.S., China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the European Union agreed to in 2015. "It explains why the [nuclear deal] to us is worse than nothing, because it leaves key parts of the nuclear program unaddressed," said one Israeli official. "It doesn’t block Iran’s path to the bomb. It paves Iran’s path to the bomb."

President Donald Trump pulled the United States from the Iran nuclear deal in May, calling it "defective at its core." Netanyahu supported Trump’s decision, deeming it a "bold decision today to reject the disastrous nuclear deal with the terrorist regime in Tehran."
