One way to handle such a large number of prosecutions is to spend a lot of time building your case in advance so that there is overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing. Then the trial runs really fast.
Also, as a tactic, you can choose only one of the charges, the one that is most ironclad, to get a quick trial and jail time. Other charges, perhaps more serious and capital offenses, can come later.
Imagine that. No public outcry because there is clear evidence that a poltician embezzled funds. Straight to jail, lose their political power. And then later, after people are used to the idea that the country was run by a den of vipers, some convict is charged with a capital offense. Who will stand up and demonstrate for a bunch of convicts who stole taxpayer money and had sex with children?
