Wash. State Activates National Guard Ahead of Election

https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/washington-inslee-national-guard/2024/11/01/id/1186420/

The governor of Washington state on Friday said he was activating some members of the National Guard to be on stand-by after information and concerns regarding potential violence related to the 2024 election.

The state, where Democrat Kamala Harris is easily expected to defeat Republican Donald Trump, according to polling, was one of two where ballot boxes were set on fire earlier in the week.

Early voting is available to those in Washington and more than 2 million have already cast their ballots, according to the Election Lab at the University of Florida.

"Based upon general and specific information and concerns regarding the potential for violence or other unlawful activity related to the 2024 general election, I want to ensure we are fully prepared to respond," Gov. Jay Inslee wrote in a letter published on his website on Friday.

Hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed by the use of the incendiary device in the drop box in the city of Vancouver, according to Inslee.

Speaker Johnson Reveals Big Plan to ‘Mass Deport’ Bureaucrats Out Of DC

https://conservativebrief.com/speaker-reveals-86814/

House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Friday that Republicans have an ambitious plan to restructure and reduce the federal government if they win congressional majorities and former President Donald Trump wins the White House.

In a wide-ranging interview with Just the News, the Louisiana Republican also discussed a proposal to ‘deport’ tens of thousands of federal bureaucrats from Washington and relocate them to middle America.

Johnson expressed that he and other GOP leaders aim to move federal agency offices, personnel, and assets away from the nation’s capital to bring them closer to the people they serve and further from the influence of wealthy special interests that often manipulate policy and spending.

“There’s a lot of talk about uprooting, you know, these entrenched bureaucracies and putting them out elsewhere around the country,” Johnson said.

He described this reinvention of the extensive federal bureaucracy, which employs over 2 million workers and contractors, as aligning with Trump’s vision to appoint billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk to head a government efficiency office.

The plan includes fiscal conservatives’ vision of eliminating federal bureaucracies and reallocating taxpayer funds to the states through block grants.

The Speaker stated that the deportation of Washington bureaucrats would lead to a natural reduction in both the size and cost of government.

“That accomplishes a lot of important goals, but the first would be that you don’t have all these career civil service law-protected bureaucrats,” he said. “Some of them have been camped out of these agencies for decades. They’re nameless, faceless. We don’t know who to hold accountable.

“The idea is, if you move the agency to, you know, northern Kansas or southwest New Mexico, or wherever it is around the country, then some of the swamp dwellers will not desire to follow the job to the new, less desirable location,” he added. “They love the swamp. You know they want to stay. They’ll turn them into lobbyists or something to stay in D.C.”

The mass transfer and departure of bureaucrats will then lead to a “business reorganization proposition” for the federal government, he said.

“You’ve got agencies that you can scale down because you have empty cubicles and … almost all the agencies are bloated and inefficient,” Johnson continued. “So you can scale that down. And then in the cubicles that you do need to fill, we’ve had America First Policy Institute and some of our other think tanks that have been working to develop a notebook full of highly qualified, previously vetted, limited government conservatives who have expertise in these areas.”

Johnson’s remarks were the most extensive he has made regarding a congressional vision for reducing the budget and restructuring government finances. He stated that the process would take a “blowtorch” to the regulatory state and reorganize government agencies following a historic Supreme Court ruling this summer that overturned the decades-old “Chevron doctrine.”

Under the new ruling, federal bureaucrats can no longer create or interpret their own regulations; they must strictly enforce those authorized by Congress, Just the News noted.

“We have a once in a lifetime, yeah, once in a lifetime opportunity to really claw back Article 1 authority to the Legislative Branch under the Constitution and have an administration that is in tune with that whole agenda,” the Speaker continued. “So look, I just think there’s almost unlimited potential in front of us, and we’ve got to seize that moment.”

On other issues, Speaker Johnson emphasized that a GOP-led Congress would fully align with Trump’s previously stated agenda, which includes closing the border, deporting illegal aliens, reducing inflation, renewing the Trump tax cuts set to expire next year, and swiftly enhancing national security in an increasingly turbulent world.

“I think within the hour of President Trump taking this oath of office, he’ll issue an executive order to secure that border,” Johnson said. “We’ll come behind that with legislative action to secure it, seal it up, and then we’ll work on having to deal with the fallout of everybody who was allowed in, and that’s a whole agenda thing.

“But immediately after the border is secured, we go to the economy, because the cost of living is unsustainable, unaffordable, and we know how to fix it … Then we’re going to do that and then somewhere you’re going to have an extension of the Trump era tax cuts,” he noted further.

‘This Is A Massive Scandal’: GOP Suspects Foreign Donations Fueling Democrats

https://conservativebrief.com/this-is-a-86818/

As a comprehensive congressional investigation into online political fundraising broadens, House Speaker Mike Johnson stated Thursday that he is concerned foreign adversaries like China and Iran may be laundering money to Democrats in this election — funds that have no doubt been used to aid Vice President Kamala Harris.

In an interview with Just the News, Johnson vowed that Republican lawmakers would take punitive measures against these overseas actors if the allegations are substantiated.

“This is a massive scandal,” Johnson told the outlet.

His remarks follow a disclosure from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who told lawmakers in a confidential memo that the Treasury Department has confirmed it holds hundreds of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) related to potential money laundering associated with the Democratic Party’s substantial online fundraising platform, ActBlue.

There is no indication that the Harris campaign is aware of or involved in anything nefarious. But ActBlue donations are obviously used to help Democrats election their candidates, including their presidential nominee.

Comer, House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil, Sen. Ron Johnson, and 19 state attorneys general have been investigating whether the ActBlue platform is being exploited by foreign actors to mask illicit donations as if they are coming from unsuspecting and potentially defrauded American citizens.

On Wednesday, Steil issued a subpoena to ActBlue for records, stating that he has evidence indicating that China, Iran, Russia, and Venezuela may be misusing the platform. He is questioning whether the Democratic fundraising powerhouse has implemented sufficient safeguards to prevent identity theft and fraudulent donations, Just the News reported.

Johnson predicted Thursday that new information would be released, which “very soon everyone will have to” cover as a significant news story.

“My theory is that they’re taking money from foreign nationals, primarily Iran, Russia China, and Venezuela, and they’re breaking down the donations into smaller gifts and making it look as though these are, you know, this is a wave of new donors, American people, that are doing this,” Johnson told the John Solomon podcast. “And I don’t think it’s true.”

“These are all allegations,” he said, noting that nothing has been substantiated as of yet. “They’ll be investigated and have to be proven.”

Johnson said early evidence suggests there could be a “massive, massive operation” to move money from illicit sources to influence the outcomes of 2024 elections.

He recently took to social media to share a website where Americans can check if their identity has been unintentionally used to make donations through ActBlue or other online fundraising platforms. He mentioned that many people have reported suspicious activity with their identities after using the site.

“I’ve done this as an informal experiment with small groups that I’ve been in the last two weeks, and there are hits in every group I’m in,” he said. “I’m with lifelong Republicans, and they have no idea that their names and addresses are being used and assigned these supposedly small-dollar donations.”

ActBlue, which claims to have raised $16 billion in small donations for left-wing causes since 2004, has broadly denied any wrongdoing and stated that it is cooperating with the various investigations.

However, ActBlue has also acknowledged to Congress and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that it has not been utilizing CVV confirmation codes on credit cards to verify all donor identities prior to processing transactions, Just the News added.

Johnson expressed concerns that liberal actors might be involved in illegal fundraising activities from foreign sources or elsewhere.

“I think somewhere at, you know, liberal High Command, they made the decision like, well, you know that the benefit outweighs the risk. We’ll have a couple fall guys who will go to jail eventually. But you know, we’ll have this avalanche of cash, and we’ll make sure we win the election. They’ll never be able to unwind the results,” he said. “I mean, it’s very serious. It has huge implications for the country.”

Johnson expressed disappointment that senior intelligence community officials who recently interacted with Congress seemed unaware of the allegations or the existence of the Suspicious Activity Reports at the Treasury Department.

“If they ever made that available, I didn’t know about it. Nobody brought it to my attention. We had to do it in reverse,” he said, explaining lawmakers led authorities to the existence of the SARs.

4 House Dems to Social Media: Disclose Post-election Plans

https://www.newsmax.com/politics/social-media-election-instagram/2024/11/01/id/1186386/

Four House Democrats are pressing major social media companies to "disclose the measures they have in place to prevent their services from being exploited to threaten public safety in the days, weeks, and months following" the U.S. election.

"We are living in a time of heightened political violence. Just this year, two attempts were made on the life of former President Donald Trump," Democrat Reps. Gerald Connolly of Virginia, Lori Trahan of Massachusetts, Sean Casten of Illinois, and Shontel Brown of Ohio wrote to the CEOs of Meta, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X and Snap in a letter dated Friday.

"Meanwhile, violence against elected officials has escalated, to include an assault on former Speaker Pelosi's husband in 2022. In 2023, the U.S. Capitol Police opened over 8,000 threat investigations, a sharp rise from 902 in 2016.

"This disturbing trend follows other tragic events, such as the violence perpetrated by white supremacists in Charlottesville [Virginia] in 2017. Many of the individuals involved in these attacks used social media to organize or were influenced by inflammatory content online," the letter continued.

"In addition to these events, the January 6th, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol is a tragic example of how platforms can be exploited to facilitate political violence. This attack highlighted the devastating consequences of failing to address political rhetoric that incites violence," it added.

Congress has investigated those failures, "but social media companies have been resistant to the efforts of lawmakers and outside researchers to evaluate platforms' safety measures," the letter read.

The lawmakers are asking for responses by Nov. 4.
