Couple of my friends' kids went there on some of those church mission trips that churchy types are always getting excited about, and I couldn't believe they let their kids go. Mission trips are, by definition, to some godforsaken hellhole. The "why" of those things completely escapes me.
Class of '82 here, now retired. Yep, the 80's were good, the 90's were almost as good as the 80's, but everything went to hell pretty much when 9/11 happened.
You younger anons are DUE a big-ass economic boom and I think you're gonna get it, too. I'm rooting for ya'll.
P.S. Do your traveling when you're young. "Too old for all this damn walking" happens before you expect it to sometimes :(
