I honestly believe that those who came of age in the mid 1980's or before really had it made. The go go 1990's were great for them. I graduated in 2002 and still not getting ahead like I would like to be but this economy is really helping though.

Thank you anon.

I'm 35 nowโ€ฆ. hard of hearing been on disability since I graduated in 2002. Have spent the last 16 years traveling the country doing handyman work for the first 5 yrs, now married since 2011 and stayed pretty much in the same area since. It's been a fun road and I do own my own home free and clear. Handyman work is picking up and it's so bad now with the skill set available that I can charge $25+ an hour and no one blinks. I bought a cargo van cheap hoping that it was an easy fix but need a new motor put in it. Will get done eventually just a bit of a bummer that I have to fix the motor before I can start advertising for more handyman work.

I hope to be charging close to $50 an hour soon for smaller jobs.

That's a big part of my future plans. Learning to estimate properly.

Just did a $3500 job. Looked it up with estimating book and I came up with $2900.

Only reason for the price difference was they wanted smooth walls and the book is textured.

Next time I plan to charge by the job. My grandma gave me a good perspective into itโ€ฆ. they hired someone to fix their deck and were watching them to make sure they were working fast enough.
