Raleigh police arrested 23-year-old Andrew Graney, a senior at NC State, in connection to a series of shootings that occurred between Nov. 4 and 7, after using phone data and evidence linking him to the crime scenes.
Arrest records released Friday detail how police honed in on the man arrested in connection with a series of shootings in Raleigh over a four-day span.
Raleigh police cited “public safety concern” to request phone data to track Andrew Graney, according to the records.
The arrest document said that cell phone tower data helped investigators determine that a silver 2015 Hyundai Sonata registered to Graney was near five locations where cars were shot at on Wednesday and Thursday.
That gave investigators probable cause to search the Sonata and Graney’s home.
Raleigh police investigators found .45-caliber shell casings at several of the crime scenes. The casings matched a gun found Thursday at Graney’s property on Kentford Court in southwest Raleigh, the records state.
