UPDATE: Joe Biden buried the Dems even deeper than we realized…. 1/2
November 11, 2024 (16 minutes ago)
Well, it turns out Joe Biden buried the Dems even deeper than we first thought. Sure, we knew his refusal to step aside caused chaos, and his quick endorsement of a weak candidate like Kamala right after he was ousted dealt another blow. It was a political death sentence to Democrats, who likely wanted to go with a much stronger candidate who wasn’t associated with the failing Biden administration. But now, it’s clear that these critical moves left the Democrats in even worse shape than we initially realized.
When Biden exited the 2024 race, eyebrows went up. First there was the speed—he went from digging in his heels to abruptly bowing out. And the announcement itself was bizarre: a strange social media post that many argued didn’t even seem to come from him.
Once Kamala was announced as the new candidate, the Dems seemed to know she didn’t stand a chance. Their only hope seemed to be focusing on down-ballot campaigns for the House and Senate—something that Biden himself accidentally let slip on camera.
The full scope of what happened to the Dems, thanks to Joe Biden’s backstabbing moves, is just starting to come into focus. Besides the obvious sabotage of quickly endorsing Kamala before the party had a second to regroup and find a “decent” candidate—that was the first and hardest blow—Biden’s decision set off a chain of devastation.Turns out, propping up a losing candidate isn’t cheap. In their scramble to make Kamala seem even remotely electable, likely hoping to save the House and Senate, the Dems sank deeply into levels of debt that are almost unimaginable. And now, they’re facing down some big-time awkwardness in terms of vendors who haven’t been paid and high-level donors who are asking some very tough questions about where the heck their money went.
A investigative reporter from the Washington Examiner, Gabe Kaminsky, pulled back the curtain on the madness, and here’s what he found:
• Inmid-October, the Harris campaign disclosed that it had spent over $880 million this election, almost $526 million greater than the roughly $354 million that the Trumpcampaign had disclosed spending, according to a Washington Examiner analysis of federal filings. Much of the Harris campaign’s spending was allocated for digital media advertising, polling, and travel from state to state, including to a private jet company called Advanced Aviation.
•Payroll and the taxes that accompanied it accounted for $56.6 millionof the Harris campaign’s spending. In comparison, the Trump campaign reported spending $9 million on payroll — employing hundreds fewer staff members.
• One vendor, Village Marketing Agency, received over $3.9 million and reportedly worked to recruit thousands of social media influencersto boost Harris online.
• “Event production” was also a staple spending area of the Harris campaign, which notablyhosted a star-studded lineup of musicians from Lady Gaga to Katy Perry for an election eve rally. The campaign paid more than $15 million, according to federal filings, to companies for such services.
• A source familiar with the matter told the Washington Examiner that theHarris campaign spent six figures on building a set for Harris’s appearance on the popular Call Her Daddypodcast with host Alex Cooper. The interview came out in October and was reportedly filmed in a hotel room in Washington, D.C.
