''A Strong Advocate โ SD Governor Kristi Noem Discusses DeSantis and Haley and Why She Supports Donald Trump''
January 4, 2024 | Sundance | 493 Comments
There is zero doubt, none, that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is positioning herself on the short list for President Trumpโs Vice-President or a very senior level role in the next Trump administration. Noem is currently campaigning in Iowa as a surrogate for Donald Trump.
In this CBS interview with Major Garrett, Governor Noem explains why she supports Donald Trump and gives specific reasons why Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley will not win in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina. WATCH (prompted):

President-elect Donald Trump has selected South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as his next secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, according to two people familiar with the selection.
Noem will be tapped to take over the agency as two key immigration hardliners โ Stephen Miller and Tom Homan โ are slated to serve in senior roles, signaling Trump is serious about his promise to crack down on his immigration pledges. With his selection of Noem, Trump is ensuring a loyalist will head an agency he prioritizes and that is key to his domestic agenda.
The department saw an immense amount of turmoil the last time Trump was in office. Then, DHS had five different leaders, only two of whom were Senate-confirmed. The agency has a $60 billion budget and hundreds of thousands of employees.
Noem, who previously was a South Dakota representative, will now be tasked with overseeing a sprawling agency that oversees everything from US Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the US Secret Service.

Trump expected to announce Stephen Miller as deputy chief of staff for policy
President-elect Donald Trump is expected to announce in the coming days that Stephen Miller, his top immigration adviser, will serve as White House deputy chief of staff for policy, two sources familiar with the plans told CNN.
Miller, who served as a senior adviser to Trump and was his lead speechwriter during his first administration, has been a leading advocate for a more restrictive immigration policy and is expected to take on an expanded role in the president-electโs second term. Heโs been closely involved in Trumpโs transition process and will have a key role in future staffing decisions. During the campaign, he frequently traveled to rallies with Trump on his private plane and was increasingly visible as a speaker at events in recent months.
Miller is also a lead architect of the president-electโs plans for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. He has said that a second Trump administration would seek a tenfold increase in the number of deportations to more than 1 million per year. In an interview on Fox News last week, Miller expressed eagerness at the prospect of beginning mass deportations as soon as possible.
