"The Fault Is Mine Alone": Musk Apologizes To British Diver For Calling Him A "Pedo"
Just a few hours after Loup Ventures' Gene "Channel Checks" Munster published an open letter to Elon Musk telling him to "to apologize to Vern Unsworth, "ignore short-sellers", and put the Twitter down", the Tesla CEO took at least one of the three to heart, and issued an apology to the British diver Vern Unsworth whom Musk labeled a pedophile over the weekend in a now-deleted Twitter post, following the rescue of a dozen Thai schoolboys and their football coach from a cave in northern Thailand.
“My words were spoken in anger after Mr. Unsworth said several untruths & suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub,” Musk, 47, said on Twitter in response to another user.

There may have been another, more ulterior motive to Musk's apology: Unsworth, who played a leading role in the rescue, said on Tuesday that he had been approached by British and American lawyers and would seek legal advice after Musk directed abuse at him on Twitter.
Speaking to Reuters after Musk's latest tweets which were sent early on Wednesday morning, Unsworth said "I am aware of his apology, and no further comment."
Asked if there would be a financial settlement over the matter or if he was still considering legal action, and also asked how he had heard of the apology, he repeated he had no further comment.
Musk had previously offered a mini-submarine created by his rocket company SpaceX to help extract the youth soccer team and the coach from the labyrinth of partly flooded passages. However, the rescue team of elite divers and others rejected his proposal, and a war of words erupted when CNN quoted Unsworth as saying the submarine “had absolutely no chance of working” and was “just a PR stunt”.
Musk responded on Twitter, saying:
“We will make one (video) of the mini-sub/pod going all the way to Cave 5 no problem. Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it.”
The Tweet was later deleted.
Musk has a history of controversial outbursts, sparring with critics and investors betting against his company. Musk jokingly tweeted on April Fools’ Day "joke" that the company had gone bankrupt after Tesla shares fell 22 percent in March. The following week, he hung up on the chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board who called to tell him the agency was booting Tesla representatives from the investigation of a fatal crash involving a Model X driver. The company had published a series of blog posts that cast blame on the deceased driver.
Ironically, earlier this month, Musk said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek that he would engage with his detractors on Twitter less often.
Then last week, James Anderson, a partner and portfolio manager at Baillie Gifford, called for “peace and execution” and urged Musk to focus on the company’s core tasks, while Munster said Musk’s "behavior is fueling an unhelpful perception" of his leadership.
Reuters even went so far as writing that "Elon Musk outburst puts Tesla board on the spot" hinting that it may be time to find a less volatile CEO."
It remains to be seen if the board will see Musk's apology as a sincere act of contrition or just the latest PR stunt.

Futures Flat As Dollar Surge Continues; Chinese Yuan Tumbles
Wed, 07/18/2018 - 06:53
Global stock markets were firmer on Wednesday, supported by Tuesday's euphoric tone when not even the Netflix debacle could hold back the Nasdaq from hitting a new all time high, as a positive assessment of the US economy from Fed chair Powell boosted the dollar, lifted bond yields and and hit raw materials and emerging-market currencies, while pummeling gold to a one-year trough.
On Tuesday, Powell "had a little something for everyone", cementing the rate hike path while preserving his options by saying gradual tightening would continue “for now.” The Fed chairman offered few surprises, which allowed markets to focus on earnings. Day two of Powell's testimony is later today, this time in the House.

EU Fines Google Record $5 Billion In Android Antitrust Probe
Wed, 07/18/2018 - 07:03
Shares of Google parent Alphabet are in the red on Wednesday morning as European Union antitrust regulators unveiled a record €4.3 billion ($5 billion) fine against the tech giant for allegedly anti-competitive practices related to Google's Android operating system. The wide-ranging probes into Alphabet have been a primary focus of Margrethe Vestager, the bloc's famously aggressive competition commissioner, since she was first appointed to the role in 2014.
Wednesday's fine follows a then-record 2.4 billion euro ($2.8 billion) levied by Vestager last year over allegations that Google's search feature unfairly benefited its comparative-shopping service.
Of course, the size of the latest fine is certainly notable, and begs the question: Is the bloc using these fines to retaliate against the US tech industry and President Trump for his refusal to grant a permanent exemption to the EU from the US's tariffs on aluminum and steel imports? Like China, which is also employing similar "stealth" retaliatory measures, the bloc also has a massive trade surplus of roughly $150 billion with the US

London’s Police Fails to Record 100,000 Crimes Including Sex Offences
London’s Metropolitan Police fails to record over 94,500 reported crimes each year, representing 10.5 percent of all reported crimes, according to estimates by the policing and fire services watchdog.
Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) found that officers were failing to accurately record crimes including domestic abuse and violence when they occurred alongside other crimes as well as some public order offences and low-level crimes.
Last year, the Met recorded over 800,000 crimes and the HMICFRS believes these near-100,000 annual missed recordings occur because officers did not “recognise” when crimes were committed or did not “understand” the need to record multiple offences when reported during police investigations.

Putin Confronts The American Dystopia
July 17, 2018
Paul Craig Roberts
We have to hand it to Putin. He is the best that there is. Note the ease with which he mopped up the floor with that idiot Chris Wallace. https://www.rt.com/usa/433447-putin-interview-fox-wallace/
What is wrong with the US media that it cannot produce a second competent journalist as company for Tucker Carlson? Why are America’s remaining good journalists, such as Chris Hedges, now in the alternate media?
All I can say, and Putin probably already knows it, is that there is more going on than presstitutes holding the relationship between Russia and the US hostage to an internal political struggle between the Democratic Party and President Trump. It is not just that the corrupt US media is serving as propagandists for the Democratic Party against President Trump. The presstitutes are serving the interest of the military/security complex, which has ownership interests in the highly concentrated US media, to keep Russia positioned as the enemy that justifies the huge $1,000 billion budget of the military/security complex. Without the “Russian enemy,” what is the justification for such a waste of money when so many real needs go underfunded and unfunded?
In other words, the American media are not only stupid, they are corrupt beyond all measure.
Today at 12:40 Eastern time NPR had a collection if Trump-bashers doing their utmost to prevent the Trump/Putin meeting from leading to a normalizing of relations between the two governments. For example, as every informed person knows, the US intelligence community has most certainly not concluded that Russia interferred in the presidential election. That conclusion was reached by a few hand-picked members of 3 of the 16 intelligence agencies and was expressed not as a proven fact but as “highly likely.” It other words, it was nothing but an orchestrated opinion given by cooperative agents who no doubt expect promotions in return.
Despite this known fact, the NPR propaganda team said that Trump had believed Putin instead of an unanimous US factual intelligence report that proved Russia interfered. The NPR Trump-bashers said that Trump had believed the “thug Putin” and not his own American experts. The NPR Trump-bashers went on to compare Trump’s “siding with Putin” with Trump’s opinion that the Charlottesville violence had contributors from both sides. The NPR Trump-bashers equated Trump’s factual statement about violence from both sides into “siding with the neo-nazis” in Charlottesville.
NPR’s point is that Trump sides with Nazis and Russian thugs and is against Americans.
What Trump said in fact about alleged election interference was that whether there was or was not any election interference, it had no effect as Comey and Rosenstein have admitted, and is certainly not as important as two nuclear powers getting along with one another and avoiding tensions that could result in nuclear war. One would think that even an NPR idiot could understand that.
The Trump-bashing on NPR has gone on all day intermixed with an occassional bashing of Russia for killing Syrian civilians in air attacks on the Washington-supported jihadists that are, as instructed by Washington, trying to hold on to a bit of Syria so that Washington and Israel can restart the war. One wonders at the stupidity of those who give money to NPR so that NPR can lie to them all day long. Like George Orwell foresaw, people are more comfortable with Big Brother’s lies than with the truth.

Louie Gohmert Discussing Lisa Page Testimony: “The guilty dogs are barking pretty loud”…
Posted on July 17, 2018 by sundance
Representative Louie Gohmert appeared on Fox News to discuss the second day of closed-door testimony delivered by former DOJ/FBI Lawyer Lisa Page. Mrs. Page was the special counsel assigned to former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Lisa Page resigned from the DOJ on May 4th of this year
One of the more interesting aspects of Lisa Page congressional appearances is the current FBI sending lawyers to control her testimony. Mrs. Page is not an employee of the DOJ or FBI, yet current officials consider her remarks a risk. We know from the insufferable press conference given by current FBI Director Christopher Wray (following the IG Report on the Clinton investigation), that current FBI officials are working to protect the former FBI leadership. As a consequence the institution of the FBI is corrupt, not just the officials.

Paranoia May Destroy Ya’ – The Collective Response From the Co-Conspirators…
Posted on July 17, 2018 by sundance
At first glance saying: yesterday was a very good day, might sound like spin. However, for those who have been frustrated about the lack of righteous push-back from the executive office; the attacks from the former “spygate” co-conspirators might be just what is needed to trigger President Trump to declassify the underlying material.
Consider the tweets from James Comey (former FBI), John Brennan (former CIA), Sally Yates (former DOJ), and statement from Ash Carter (former DoD).
Think about the bigger questions: Why would former administration officials feel the need to engage in such discourse? What exactly does their response say about their personal attachment to current events? …and more importantly, what do they all have in common?
If you note they are all connected to the intelligence apparatus, and more specifically the well documented FISA abuse, well, yeah, things start making a lot of sense. After all, at the center of all the intelligence corruption in 2015/2016 is the exploitation of FBI/NSA databases for political opposition research and weaponization.
The over-the-top responses to a meeting and press conference between President Trump and Russian President Putin highlights the extent to which the prior officials have formed all of their defenses around the Russian conspiracy narrative. They are all-in.
The Russian conspiracy narrative was formed as both their insurance policy against a Trump administration; and a necessary collective defense -passed on to Robert Mueller inc- to ensure an offense was always present to insure their activity never surfaced.

Robert Kennedy Jr. launches first lawsuit of thousands against Monsanto alleging herbicide Roundup causes non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Monday, July 16, 2018 by: JD Heyes
(Natural News) Environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has filed the first of what he termed “several thousand” lawsuits against agri-giant Monsanto, alleging that its widely-used herbicide Roundup causes non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Jurors in San Francisco heard hours of scientific data about the chemical’s link to the disease, which has a high survival rate after five years, but which can cause others to become terminally ill.

LIMBAUGH: LEFT IN PANIC, ACTING LIKE 'RECENT ESCAPEES FROM ASYLUMS'
Trump hatred 'irrational to the point it can't be explained'
Published: 15 hours ago
The left is in a panic because they see the Russia-collusion investigation going down in flames and they are acting like “recent escapees from asylums” in their irrational hatred of the president.
It’s the “entirety of the U.S. media, Democratic Party, much of the Republican Party and the entire Washington establishment,” he said.
“I think when Rod Rosenstein went out and announced this indictment, and then admitted that no votes were affected by this Russian meddling – that the outcome of not a single election was affected by what these Russians are alleged to do in this indictment – it caused a panic to ripple throughout the deep state, throughout the Democrat Party and the media. I think it was seen as, ‘Oh, my God. Mueller doesn’t have the goods!’ …
“They’ve gone to bed every night and they’ve gotten up every morning believing that Mueller has the smoking gun – that Mueller, even if he doesn’t have it, that he’s going to say he does. Mueller has been the singular hope in which the deep state’s desire to get rid of Trump has been invested.”
But the indictment, he said, “Finds nothing.”
Then follows the president’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, his comments about the Democrat email scandal and more, and the resulting explosion of criticism across the American media landscape. Among his comments is that Putin told him Russia didn’t meddle in the 2016 election, a contradiction to the FBI’s indictment claims on Friday.
“These people leveling these charges are a making it look like they are recent escapees from asylums and that they need to be sent back. We have heard people on MSNBC claim that what Trump did with Putin is akin to Hitler murdering Jews on Kristallnacht. It’s irrational to the point that it can’t be rationally explained,” Limbaugh said.

JIM JORDAN, BRETT KAVANAUGH AND INNUENDO JOURNALISM
Star Parker compares accusations against men to Duke lacrosse-team fiasco
Published: 13 hours ago
First it was Republican Rep. Jim Jordan. Now it’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
These men are considered guilty by association for being in proximity of wrongdoing that took place almost 30 years ago.
Allegedly, Jordan took no action as a young assistant wrestling coach regarding sexual misconduct by the team’s doctor.
And Kavanaugh was a law clerk for a judge later accused of sexual harassment.
There will be questions to Kavanaugh during his confirmations hearings, which will relegate these absurd insinuations to the trash where they belong.
But Jordan is an influential conservative congressman, and he is being hurt.
Why is it so easy for the media to inflict damage at what appears to be so little cost to them?
I’m reminded of the Duke University lacrosse team rape-case fiasco in 2006, where a corrupt prosecutor with an agenda and an all too willing left-wing press and university administration were ready to convict young men – with no facts.
It was just too beautiful a story for the left: young white athletes raping a black woman they hired to strip at their team party house.
Except it didn’t happen. But the team coach was fired; the university suspended the team and canceled the playing season. The players were tried and convicted in the press, and 88 members of the Duke University faculty signed a letter carried in the university newspaper essentially confirming the guilt of the players and the alleged crime.
How can we not be thinking about this case with these horrible and unsubstantiated allegations surrounding Jordan, who to all who know him is a man of impeccable character and standards?
Where’s the reporting on those who knew Jordan from this time and who substantiate his claim that he didn’t know what was going on?

MUELLER SEEKS IMMUNITY FOR 5 IN MANAFORT TRIAL
Would otherwise refuse to take witness stand or answer questions
Published: 16 hours ago
(CNBC) — Special counsel Robert Mueller is asking a judge to grant immunity from prosecution for five potential witnesses whose testimony Mueller wants to compel at the upcoming federal criminal trial of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort, according to a court filing Tuesday.
The five individuals would either refuse to take the witness stand, or refuse to answer questions because of their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination if they are not granted immunity and compelled to testify with that protection from prosecution, according to Mueller’s filing in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va.
Mueller has also asked Judge T.S. Ellis to seal the court motions detailing the witnesses.

Curious path of Siberian gun lover accused of spying on US
MOSCOW (AP) — By her early 20s, Maria Butina appeared to have a budding political career and a mini furniture empire in her remote Siberian hometown. Then she abandoned both to pursue her passion for gun rights — and, prosecutors say, to spy on the United States.
Butina, 29, faces a hearing Wednesday in Washington on accusations she worked as a foreign agent, representing a new generation of Russian operatives seeking a long-term U.S. foothold. Her lawyer says she did nothing wrong.
“It’s psychosis. A witch hunt,” her father, Valery Butin, was quoted as saying Wednesday by the Altapress website in her hometown of Barnaul.
U.S. prosecutors suggest Butina used her gun-lobbying efforts to infiltrate the NRA and the Republican Party, both during the 2016 presidential campaign and after Donald Trump’s election.
U.S. federal prosecutors detailed extensive private Twitter conversations and other discussions between Butina and a senior Russian official about her activities in the United States.
The Russian official is believed to be Alexander Torshin, deputy head of the Russian Central Bank and a target of U.S. sanctions since April. He and the Central Bank didn’t respond to requests for comment about Butina’s arrest.
Kremlin-backed Russian television calls her the “ideal victim” of anti-Russian hysteria in the U.S. The Russian Embassy in Washington says Butina hasn’t been able to meet with consular representatives since her Sunday arrest.
From her provincial beginnings, Russian media accounts say, Butina displayed remarkable ambition, political savvy and an overt love of weapons.

A day after back-tracking, Trump defends summit performance
WASHINGTON (AP) — Taking to Twitter early Wednesday, President Donald Trump defended anew his much-criticized performance at the Helsinki summit, promising “big results” from better relations with Russia and hitting back at “haters.”
Trump made no mention of his having walked back comments that called into question U.S. intelligence findings of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Those comments, delivered alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit press conference Monday, had prompted blistering, bipartisan criticism at home.

Germany forces 1,050 Tesla owners to forgo electric car bonus
well crap 1st Canada now Germany
Germany's Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control said 1,050 owners of a Tesla Model S will be forced to forgo a 2,000 euro electric car subsidy because the value of their vehicles had surpassed an eligibility threshold.
The office on Wednesday said only vehicles costing 60,000 euros or less qualified for Germany’s “environmental bonus”. Because it had found that Tesla was delivering higher specification vehicles costing more than 60,000 euros, the Tesla Model S was removed from the subsidy list on November 30, 2017.
“The subsidy needs to be repaid by 800 people who had received it, and another 250 customers who had been notified they were eligible… will now not receive it,” a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Because Tesla has started delivering its base model in Germany again, customers who bought cars costing less than 60,000 euros are once again eligible to apply for the bonus, the spokeswoman said.
