Authorities working to resolve issues with Emergency Alert System in Butte County
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff says they are working with FEMA, the National Weather Service and all the broadcasters to solve the problem of "mumbling and static" Emergency Alert System (EAS) messages.
The sheriff said they are hopeful they will solve the problem before the next event. The Butte County Sheriff said when the next event launches, pull out your phone and record the message. If the recording quality is still poor, they need to have documentation to further chase down the problem.
The sheriff said they need to know: Where you heard the message or radio, and specifically what channel and carrier you have (for example, Comcast, Dish Network etc.). Please email infosheriff@buttecounty.net with the information you have.
