Robbie Keane's wife says he resigned from Maccabi Tel Aviv to protect his family
Claudine Keane says she doesn't feel safe in Ireland following hate messages and even death threats, urges to end 'witch hunt' against her husband for his time coaching in Israel
Robbie Keane is once again stirring controversy in Ireland, as the former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach, who led the team to a championship just last season, was invited by the Irish Football Association to present commemorative shields to players making their debut on youth national teams and to speak with senior team members.
However, the event sparked criticism, as many objected to the soccer legend's recent coaching role in Israel, especially during the ongoing war, with Irish media noting he “did not halt his work even as Israel intensified the situation with the Palestinians.”

Defense minister says Israel will not agree to any arrangement that does not include disarming Hezbollah, pushing terror group beyond Litani River and creating conditions for safe return of northern residents to their homes

West Bank Annexation 'Of Course' A Possibility, Says Trump's Israel Envoy Pick Huckabee
Mike Huckabee, announced Tuesday as the incoming Trump administration's designated US Ambassador to Israel, spoke to Israel's Army Radio in a short interview Wednesday morning.
He issued some surprisingly bold statements, amid controversy from some corners of US Congress who are alarmed at the choice, given he has long been among the most staunch and hardline supporters of Israel. He spelled out that he is on board with a complete Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank, if that's what Trump policy leaders decide.
"I'm kind of in shock. It's been an unusual and wonderful day all at the same time. And I'm just incredibly honored that the president would ask me to serve in this capacity," Huckabee said at the start of the interview.
The Israeli Army show host probed and pressed him on what might be the most forward-looking changes that President-elect Donald Trump might bring to US-Israel relations.
Currently, there are a handful of hardline Israeli ministers who have gone so far as to call for declaring the West Bank as Israeli sovereign territory.
Among the most outspoken are Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Smotrich recently declared that "now is the time" to declare Israeli sovereignty over Palestinian territories, especially the West Bank.
Huckabee in the Wednesday morning interview, which appears to be his first since being tapped as Israeli ambassador, began with "I have been, as you know, a frequent visitor to Judea and Samaria." His reference was to what is internationally known as the West Bank. Israel chooses to use the ancient biblical names of Judea and Samaria.
"I also very much believe that the people of Israel deserve a secure and safe country, and anything I can do that will help accommodate that is going to be a great privilege for me," he added.

Israel's Army Investigates if It Breached International Law by Killing Hundreds of Gazans
Since the start of the operation in the northern Gaza Strip, dozens of deaths from IDF fire have been reported almost every day. Haaretz learned that at least 16 attacks will be investigated, with the aim of fending off demands by international authorities to investigate soldiers or officers suspected of committing war crimes
The videos that flooded social networks this Sunday, November 10, were hard to watch. In one of them, a young man in a white shirt walks past a pile of colorful blankets, revealing the bodies underneath. Under a blanket, there's a child wearing a pink shirt with stars. The young man pulls her hand, trying to sit her up, but she falls back when he lets go of her hands. She is dead. The video was taken in Jabalya in the north of the Gaza Strip shortly after the Israeli Defense Forces attack. Gazan medical teams report that at least 36 people were killed after the IDF attacked a building sheltering families whose houses were destroyed.

Attempts being made to drag Syria into armed confrontation in Middle East — diplomat
According to Alexander Lavrentyev, the top priority today is to prevent such attempts
The situation in the Middle East is worsening, with attempts being made to drag Syria into a large-scale conflict in the region, Russian presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told TASS.
"Regrettably, we see the Middle East conflict expanding. Israel and Iran exchanged strikes, we see attempts at dragging Syria into the armed confrontation," he said.

Israel & the Evidence Gap
For the small segment of U.S. citizens looking beyond the mainstream media, Lawrence Davidson says the discrepancy between popular perceptions and evidentiary reality is relatively easy to spot.
In early October 2024, Professor Joseph Massad of Columbia University gave an interview to the online news site Electronic Intifada.
In it he said that there is a “huge gap” between the academic (evidence-based) understanding of aspects of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (such as the Jewish supremacist nature of Israeli society and its resulting apartheid policies) and the mainstream media assumptions about (a “democratic” and “progressive”) Israel.
The latter define the popular and official reporting about that country and its Zionist ideology. Massad’s observation describes a problem that distorts more than just views of Israel.
The United States has a popular and official perception, again promoted by mainstream media, of itself and the world encapsulated by catch words such as freedom, capitalism, progress, individualism, morality etc.
Other countries develop their own fanciful self-images. However, in the case of the U.S. and Israel, the two images have merged in the storyline delivered to U.S. citizens by the mass media for at least the last hundred years. (See my 2001 book, America’s Palestine: Popular and Official Perceptions from Balfour to Israeli Statehood.)
So strong is this merger that, in the case of President Joe Biden and his government, this shared identity necessitates an unquestioning support of Israel’s “right of self-defense” even when “defense” covers up offense and offense amounts to the ethnic cleansing and mass murder of the Palestinians.
The end product of this remarkable act of collective self-deception is the U.S. government’s complicity in an ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza enclave, and U.S. domestic approval of the suppression of pro-Palestine protests — in violation of America’s own standards of free speech.
Israel’s Media-Shaped World
There is nonetheless a growing, but still small, segment of U.S. citizens willing to look beyond the mainstream media. For those who do so, the discrepancy between popular perceptions and evidentiary reality is relatively easy to spot. This is because there are alternative sources of information on the peripheries (not all of it reliable, of course) and, combined with a modicum of critical thinking skills, one can learn to judge the evidence.
This is much harder for Israeli Jews. In the Zionist state not only have the national media, with only rare exceptions, been co-opted to promote a popular mythology but all the schools, colleges and universities as well.
Most information related to the conflict with the Palestinians is censored and the resulting closed-information environment has been getting more and more restrictive.

Aussie gold miner faces $250m demand from Mali as CEO detained
Mali is demanding Australian gold producer Resolute Mining pay about $US160 million ($250 million) to resolve a tax dispute after the government detained its chief executive, according to people familiar with the matter.
CEO Terry Holohan and two colleagues have been held in the capital, Bamako, since late last week after the Resolute boss travelled to the city for meetings with the nation’s tax and mining authorities. The detention comes as the military rulers of Africa’s third-largest gold producer ratchet up pressure on mining companies to renegotiate economic terms.
The government’s position is that Resolute – which operates the Syama gold mine – should pay the state 100 billion CFA francs ($249.9 million) to settle a dispute mainly concerning alleged back taxes following a sector-wide audit, the people said, asking not to be named as the matters were private.
The parties have been discussing a potential agreement that would see the company pay half that sum now and half at a later date, one of the people said.
Resolute declined to comment on Wednesday. The claims against the firm were “unsubstantiated,” the Perth-based miner said in a statement on November 11. “The company is continuing to work with the government on a resolution.”

Poll Shows Kamala Harris as Frontrunner for California Governorship.
Vice President Kamala Harris‘s political career may not have ended with her landslide defeat by President-elect Donald J. Trump in the 2024 election. A recent survey of California voters suggests Harris would hold a significant advantage if she opts to run for governor of the state in 2026.Nearly half of voters surveyed say they would likely support Harris in a crowded gubernatorial race, according to a poll conducted by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies. Among Democrats, who double the number of registered Republicans, 72 percent expressed potential support for Harris, compared to eight percent of Republicans and 38 percent of independents.
