I have never read one of his books only watched the movies and I kinda like em. The mist was good. I personally like stuff like Storm of the Century, although the modern version MIdnight Mass was better. I know he is a coke head and deep state lacky But if you know what you are looking at its not just scary its extremely telling. Doctor Sleep hit hard personally for me.
