I have ZERO interest in working with anyone who is a former colleague that disappeared upon our departure from the White House—and was no where to be found when DJT announced his candidacy on 11/15/22, or was silent throughout 2023. STOP CALLING. STOP EMAILING. STOP TEXTING——YOU’RE NOT HEARING BACK FROM ME✌️

Les Misérables is a story of redemption, social injustice, and the French Revolution set in 19th century France:

The story

The story follows Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who seeks redemption after breaking parole. Valjean is pursued by his former guard, Inspector Javert, for decades. Valjean's life changes when he takes care of Cosette, the daughter of Fantine, a factory worker. The two travel across France, eventually ending up in Paris during the French Revolution.

The inspiration

Victor Hugo, the author of Les Misérables, was inspired by a number of real-life people and events:

Eugène-François Vidocq: Hugo based Valjean's character in part on Vidocq, an ex-convict who became a businessman and the founder of France's first private detective agency.

An incident Hugo witnessed: Hugo was inspired by an incident he witnessed in 1829, where a police officer took a man who stole a loaf of bread to the coach. Hugo imagined the life of the man in jail and the mother and daughter who watched.

The Elephant of the Bastille: Hugo immortalized a plaster model of the Elephant of the Bastille, a monument in Paris, in Les Misérables.

Hugo's political views: Hugo wrote Les Misérables as a political criticism of the reigns of Louis Philippe and Napoleon III.

The musical

Les Misérables is also a sung-through musical with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel.
