Pres. Biden & Chinese President Hold Meeting During APEC Forum

President Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered remarks before holding a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Lima, Peru. President Xi commented on the 2024 U.S. presidential election, which resulted in the political comeback and victory of Republican Donald Trump. He said, “China is ready to work with the new U.S. administration to maintain communication, expand cooperation, and manage differences, so as to strive for a steady transition of the China-U.S. relationship for the benefit of the two peoples.” President Biden then mentioned U.S.-China progress on military-to-military communications, artificial intelligence, and combating fentanyl trafficking.
