If you were employed or a student at BMCC between September 11, 2001, to May 30, 2002, we are providing the following information on the 911 Victims Compensation Fund (VCF). The normal deadline for filing a claim with the VCF is 2 years from the certification of an illness by the WTCHP or two years after the death of a loved one. With the permanent reauthorization of the VCF in 2019, the Special Master of VCF opened a two-year window that allows previously time-barred claims (claims which were not filed within the time limit) to be submitted. This extension, however, expires on July 29, 2021. In order to access the benefits available to you, you must be able to provide two affidavits from individuals who can attest to your presence in the exposure area.

Police are actively investigating accusations of serious sexual misconduct against former shock jock Alan Jones and have already interviewed his alleged victims.

Jones is alleged to have preyed on a string of young men, and has been accused of indecently assaulting, groping or inappropriately touching them without consent.

Nine newspapers first reported the allegations almost a year ago, including claims Jones inappropriately kissed and groped a 17-year-old schoolboy who visited his sprawling Southern Highlands estate in 2017.

The allegations relate almost exclusively to his time at Sydney's leading talkback station, 2GB, but predate its current ownership by Nine Radio.

Jones has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and his lawyers have described the allegations against him as demonstrably false and defamatory.

He has not been charged with any offences.

Russia has recently made changes to its nuclear doctrine, granting it rights to use nuclear weapons against “non-nuclear states”. Putin has shown the utmost restraint in the SMO in Ukraine. Should the western powers gamble on authorization of long range missiles directed inside Russian territory, Russia will use tactical nuclear weapons to officially end the conflict in Ukraine with a strong and effective message to the western world.

What is Bluesky, the fast-growing social platform welcoming fleeing X users?

Championed by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Bluesky was an invitation-only space until it opened to the public in February. That invite-only period gave the site time to build out moderation tools and other features. The platform resembles Musk’s X, with a “discover” feed and a chronological feed for accounts that users follow. Users can send direct messages and pin posts, as well as find “starter packs” that provide a curated list of people and custom feeds to follow.

Bluesky, though, has bigger ambitions than to supplant X. Beyond the platform itself, it is building a technical foundation — what it calls “a protocol for public conversation” — that could make social networks work across different platforms — also known as interoperability — like email, blogs or phone numbers.

Currently, you can’t cross between social platforms to leave a comment on someone’s account. Twitter users must stay on Twitter and TikTok users must stay on TikTok if they want to interact with accounts on those services. Big Tech companies have largely built moats around their online properties, which helps serve their advertising-focused business models.

Bluesky is trying to reimagine all of this and working toward interoperability.
