First government position anywhere in the United States specifically created to advance blockchain initiatives on the county and state level.

Seminole County, FL —Seminole County Tax Collector, Joel M. Greenberg, announced on Tuesday, former Tampa resident and BlockSpaces member, Samuel Armes, will join the office as Blockchain and Legislative Affairs Director. He joins, Michelle Ertel, Public Affairs Director as the newest additions to the office.
“We are excited to welcome Michelle and Samuel to the team and look forward to working with these two dedicated and talented individuals to make sure our office continues to reach far into our community so we can continue to serve Seminole County’s residents,” said Greenberg.
Both Ertel and Armes have solid ties to several state and local officials, having worked with legislative leaders and various state agencies in recent years.
Armes has an extensive background in blockchain and government spaces and did research for United States Special Operations Command and for the Department of State on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. He also founded the Florida Blockchain Business Association, an organization created to foster an innovative and entrepreneurial environment for all blockchain related businesses in Florida. Armes has been a member of BlockSpaces since 2017, and has frequently presented policy and legislative topics as a featured speaker at their Tampa location.
This is the first government position anywhere in the United States specifically created to advance blockchain initiatives on the county and state level. The goal of the position is to ensure Florida remains a friendly state for blockchain innovation while also overseeing the implementation of countywide blockchain projects.
