Attorney General Garland Addresses Juvenile Justice Conference in Washington, D.C.

In his closing remarks at the Justice Department’s “National Conference on Youth Justice” Attorney General Merrick Garland thanked those in attendance for their dedication to promoting juvenile justice. He noted 2023 saw a “historic drop in homicides nationwide and one of the lowest levels of violent crime in 50 years.” The attorney general also added that despite the gains in juvenile justice he believes more progress can be made. This was the first youth justice conference for the department in 13 years, Attorney General Garland called it “an incredible success.”
