On Thursday, November 21 at 11:07 a.m. ET, Falcon 9 launched 24 Starlink satellites, to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
This was the 20th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched OneWeb 1, SES 18+19, Eutelsat HOTBIRD-F1, CRS-24, and now 16 Starlink missions.

Partnership ensures space superiority by improving software development for space defense

In 2022, Space Systems Command formally partnered with the University of Southern California as part of the USSF’s University Partnership Program via a Memorandum of Understanding.
“Partnering to win is a key component of ensuring space superiority. It is an indispensable pre-requisite to the success of the Joint Force,” said Col. Matthew Spencer, commander of SSC’s Positioning, Navigation and Timing Program Systems Delta with the Military Communications and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Program Executive Office.
“Our partnerships with joint, coalition, international, interagency, academic, and commercial stakeholders act as critical force multipliers and expand our competitive advantage,” he continued.
USC was the first university in California and one of 14 universities nationwide originally selected to join USSF’s University Partnership Program based on the quality of their STEM degree offerings and their space-related research laboratories and initiatives; robust ROTC programs; diverse student populations; and degrees and academic programs designed to support military, veterans and their families in pursuing higher education.
Research and leadership development are the largest facets of the program.
Recently, SSC and USC partnered up to pair USC Trojans with SSC Guardians to work within real USSF programs.
This partnership team acted as a “living laboratory” to identify strategies for implementing agile development into complex defense projects.
Specifically, their study comprises a series of case studies focused on software for spacecrafts — or as they’re commonly known, satellites.
GPS is a “dual use” technology key to both national security and economic prosperity. It is an essential ‘silent’ utility in IT and cybersecurity, transportation, economic development, and sustainment of day-to-day life around the world.
From GPS navigation to digital transactions, to missile detection and intelligence gathering, nearly every aspect of modern military and civil operations rely on satellites orbiting high above Earth.
The joint team worked across three distinct software projects for spacecraft command and control, whose exact nature are confidential.
These projects encompass a traditional waterfall approach, a 50/50 hybrid of waterfall and agile methods, and a predominantly agile model, providing a spectrum of methodologies for comparative analysis.
By working directly with USSF Guardians from Space System Command, the team gained unprecedented access to real-time project information, such as contractor data, offering project workflow insights that were previously unavailable to government oversight.
The findings (and recommendations) from this joint study are already influencing Department of Defense acquisition practices, according to Mike Orosz, a research director at USC Viterbi’s Information Sciences Institute, and Brian Duffy, a Senior Systems Engineer at ISI who worked on the study.
The team has informed the Secretary of Defense’s office on agile best practices, and their documents have been distributed throughout the Pentagon’s acquisition workforce.
“Innovative academic research guards against technical surprise, provides novel technology that strengthens our power projection, and ensures our Guardians are prepared for modern warfare and the high intensity fight,” Spencer said.
“Collaborations such as these are a great example of ‘exploiting what we have,’ not only because we’re strengthening our mutually beneficial partnerships, but also because we’re always finding new ways to delve insights from existing data and systems,” he continued.
Partnerships such as these not only provide a tactical and strategic edge, but they also help to deepen connections with stakeholders by amplifying the Guardian spirit and culture.

Philip Garrant, SSC commander, serves as USC’s Champion under the USSF’s UPP, designed to further the service’s ability to recruit and educate a diverse and tech-savvy Guardian workforce, create opportunities for advanced academic degrees, open channels for ROTC scholarships, and establish world-class research opportunities.

Moment pilot captures 'multiple UFOs' swarming around Boeing jet over Middle East

A pilot claims he captured “multiple UFOs” swarming around a Boeing jet over Middle East.
Captain Van Pangemanan said on his YouTube channel that the alien’s flashed their lights as though “they wanted to give a message”.
He described how the glowing orbs “danced” around the Boeing 747 in his video filmed from inside the cockpit captured at around 5am.
“We thought the light was a plane, but it wasn't on our radar,” the pilot said. “Then we thought maybe it was a star, but the stars twinkled quickly and the stars didn't move.”
The UFOs can be seen swaying or wobbling in midair around the jet, departed from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, before appearing to go dark or duck into the cloud cover below.
Some on social media have suggested that the light were produced by the Perseid meteor shower, but the captain believes the aliens’ movements were too “various” to be a falling star.
“The light of the UFO in front of us moves freely,” he said. “The UFO light shone for a long time and moved.”
According to Van Pangemanan, the orbs showed up 30 minutes into the flight after “normal take-off and cruising”.
Given that the jet was traveling southwest from Jeddah to Abuja, Nigeria, the UFOs would be pointing in the general direction of the Perseid meteor shower.
During the August peak of the shower, there are as many as 100 shooting stars overhead every hour radiating from the constellation of Perseus.
“We also thought [about] the possibility the light was a satellite,” the captain added, “because right now there are a lot of Starlink satellites that have just been launched by Elon Musk.”
Van Pangemanan asked fans to “figure it out yourself” and identify the flying object. Fellow pilots took to the comments to chime in with their own stories of seeing glowing dancing orbs while on duty.
“I use to fly the 747. I witnessed the same type of light flying over the sea of Japan on the way to Korea,” one pilot, named Paul Bishop, said.
“A month later another pilot told me he witnessed the same thing over the Pacific and another said he saw it over Canada,” he added.

UFO Zooming Past NYC Caught on Camera by Local News Helicopter

Watch the skies, dear reader. A news chopper accidentally caught an uncanny UFO speeding effortlessly past the NYC skyline.
In the concluding moments of a Fox 5 news report aired on Monday, a mysterious spherical object is visible in the clear sky of the Big Apple.
It traces an arcing path toward the news helicopter. The orb looks white from afar, gradually acquiring a pink and then blue tint as it approaches the camera.
The footage depicts potential alien technology that far outpaces anything our puny scientists of Earth have produced (that we know of).
The UFO swiftly surpasses every boat on the Hudson, gracefully arcing past the news helicopter.

At first glance, the footage appears startling, even unsettling.
However, upon further inspection, it remains unclear whether the orb is a tangible object or merely a light refraction on a lens or glass.
Experts Do Their Best to Downplay the Footage of a UFO Zooming Past NYC
Avi Loeb, a theoretical physicist, cosmologist, Harvard professor, and professional killjoy, asserts that the apparent UFO is merely a video artifact.
“This is most likely an optical artifact from the helicopter glass in front of the camera, namely a bright spot from the reflection of sunlight as the camera gradually changes its orientation relative to the sun and the ground,” Loeb told The New York Post, likely through a sneer of contempt.
“But even if it was a real object, the apparent speed is of an order the speed of sound and not extraordinary,” Loeb added, sounding suspiciously like he was downplaying something…
Tim Gallaudet, a retired rear admiral in the United States Navy and CEO of Ocean STL Consulting, joined the cover-up… I mean… he agreed with Loeb that the UFO was nothing. Nothing at all.
“For several reasons, looks like an artifact and not an actual UAP,” Gallaudet explained to The Post. UAP stands for “unidentified aerial phenomenon,” which some folks are trying to use instead of UFO as of late.
A representative for “Good Day New York,” which initially broadcast the clip, told the outlet that they are unable to determine the exact recording date.
However, they suggested it was probably captured within the past year.
“Good Day” also assured that its staff’s digital editors have not altered the footage.
And so, another UFO sighting is left unanswered. The cosmic ballet goes on.

MARCO Rubio could be a key player in forcing the US government to expose what it really knows about UFOs, an expert has said.
Nick Pope, who probed the phenomena for the British government, has hailed the president-elect over his pick for Secretary of State.
He even speculated that Rubio could be an unstoppable force within Trump’s top team.
Rubio was one of Trump’s early picks, and the hawkish Republican has been at the forefront of calls for the US government to come clean about UFOs.
Just decades ago, the issue was confined to the fringes of politics but has been thrust into the limelight due to national security fears.
There have been allegations that the mystery has been covered up by the government.
Pope said Trump appointing Rubio to Secretary of State could be a game-changer.
“This is potentially very good news for the UFO community,” he told The U.S. Sun.
“In view of Rubio’s previous interest and given Trump’s statements about unidentified aerial phenomena, the combination of a pro-disclosure president and a pro-disclosure secretary of state may constitute an unstoppable force that many hope will lead to a formal announcement of the reality of the phenomenon.
“If there’s a deep-state cover-up, a Trump-Rubio combination may be powerful enough to beat the bureaucrats.”
Pope urged UFO fanatics to pay attention to any announcements made by Rubio.
Rubio has been one of the leading Senators who have urged the government to be completely transparent.
He claimed that a handful of US government officials have come forward with claims about UAP.
Rubio shared the revelation after David Charles Grusch, a whistleblower and former intelligence officer, claimed the US has found non-human craft.
In a bombshell interview with NewsNation that aired in June 2023, Grusch also alleged that the US has a UFO retrieval program – a claim that the Pentagon denied.
Grusch said he had seen evidence of the retrieval program.
“These are retrieving non-human origin technical vehicles, call it spacecraft if you will, non-human exotic origin vehicles that have either landed or crashed,” he said.
A Department of Defense spokesperson refuted the claims made by Grusch at the time.
However, lawmakers and the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) continue to investigate the mystery.
AARO was formed in 2022 and is where alleged sightings can be reported.
A UAP hearing was held last week, and Lue Elizondo, an ex-military officer, vowed humans were “not alone in the cosmos.”
And a report revealed the most common types of UFOs that were allegedly seen between 1991 and 2022
Orbs were among the shapes commonly reported, as were saucers and so-called Tic Tacs.
Triangular crafts ranged in size from an F-16 aircraft to a football field, according to the dossier.
But, floating brain and jellyfish-shaped unidentified aerial phenomena were also reported.
The report shed light on Immaculate Constellation - an apparent program that collates data on UFO encounters and experiences.
Pentagon chiefs denied any existence, but the report claimed the sheer existence of the program proved that the Government is aware of UFOs.
The topic of UFOs was brought up during the election campaign, and Trump admitted he knew “a lot” about the issue during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
Trump claimed he spoke with pilots who shared information about alleged sightings.
Before the election, Pope told The U.S. Sun that Trump could push for “full disclosure” during his second term.
He claimed Trump could make a real change by pushing ahead and divulging information that bureaucrats in Washington have allegedly worked hard to cover up.
It would be a history-making move if Trump did push for full disclosure, according to Pope.

Xenomorphs finally come home in Alien: Earth teaser

They say that in space, no one can hear you scream. Back here on Earth, plenty of people can — but that still might not be enough to save you (or anyone else) from the Xenomorphs.
Ridley Scott's original Alien movie celebrates its 45th anniversary this year.
In the time since, subsequent franchise installments have been set on an interstellar marine base, a prison colony, a primordial planet, and (in this year's Alien: Romulus) a mining colony and nearby space station, among other science-fiction settings.
But the Alien series has never brought its monstrous Xenomorphs home to planet Earth, nor has it moved from movie screens to TV. But there's a first time for everything!
Next summer, FX will premiere the new series Alien: Earth. Created by Fargo mastermind Noah Hawley, the series seems like it will deliver on its title. You can watch the new teaser below.
The teaser doesn't reveal much more than the basics (such as its setting in the far-off year 2120), but it's still alarming to see our familiar blue planet reflected in the faceplate of a Xenomorph.
The promotional key art for Alien: Earth also riffs on the original film's iconic poster, depicting the entire planet as an egg for a Xenomorph.
The star of the series is Sydney Chandler (daughter of Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler, and previously seen in Don't Worry Darling and Apple TV+'s Sugar), but there is also a large, international ensemble group of actors around her.
The rest of the cast includes Justified star Timothy Olyphant, as well as Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.
The series was first announced in 2020. A year later, Hawley said that he wanted the series to focus on "inequality," a theme that has been touched on in previous movies.
But by their nature, previous Alien movies starred working-class characters (spaceship crews, soldiers, prisoners) who were at the mercy of orders they had to obey from the mysterious Weyland-Yutani corporation.
By bringing the show to Earth, Hawley will be able to show new sides of the series' dynamic.
"In mine," Hawley said then, "you're also going to see the people who are sending [the spaceship crews].
So, you will see what happens when the inequality we're struggling with now isn't resolved. If we as a society can't figure out how to prop each other up and spread the wealth, then what's going to happen to us?"
We'll find out when Alien: Earth arrives in summer 2025. Though branded as an FX project, it will only be available to watch on Hulu.
