The shocking assassination attempt on former President Trump, allegedly orchestrated and carried out by Crooks, has ignited a firestorm of controversy surrounding the nursing home and its apparent lack of participation in the investigation.
Disclosure of any mental health history of Crooks has not been made available by the parents who are both “behavioral health experts” and claim according to the FBI, their son wasn’t on any psychotropic drugs. Remember this information is coming from the father who handed his son a gun just hours before the assassination attempt and has failed to explain how, both “experts” in behavioral health, he and his wife missed or ignored signs that their son’s mental health was deteriorating.
According to the Task Force Final Report, the father of the shooter did notice his son’s behavior had changed in the months leading up to the assassination attempt. What exactly did the father (a behavioral health specialist) do for his son about this strange behavior? The report does not go into any detail about whether there was any intervention on behalf of the parents. This seems odd. Especially because the father and mother are mental health experts. One can only wonder why, if aware that the alleged shooter’s behavior was strange, did the father hand over a high-powered weapon to the alleged shooter. “Irresponsible” comes to mind and parents have been sued for far less in recent years. Russia launched a massive drone and missile strike against Ukraine on Friday in retaliation for Kyiv's recent use of the US-supplied Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) against a Russian military base.
ABC News quoted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said Russia launched 93 missiles and nearly 200 drones targeting the country's energy infrastructure. This was one of the largest bombardments against Ukraine's energy sector since the invasion began almost three years ago.
Zelenskyy said Ukrainian defense forces intercepted 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles shot down by Western-supplied General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets.
He accused Russia of continuing to "terrorize millions of people" with these reckless assaults, renewing his request to the international community for intervention and more support for Ukraine.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Dec. 11 demanded a settlement from Elon Musk to avoid charges related to his purchase of Twitter, now known as X, according to a letter from Musk’s lawyer to the agency.
Musk bought Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion. That year, the SEC launched an investigation into whether he violated federal securities laws through his purchase, statements, and SEC filings.
“Yesterday the Commission Staff issued a settlement demand that required Mr. Musk agree within 48 hours to either accept a monetary payment or face charges on numerous counts,” Alex Spiro, the lawyer, wrote in the letter to the chairman of the SEC, Gary Gensler, on Thursday. “They indicated that this demand was the result of a directive from their superiors and that charges would be brought imminently unless Mr. Musk acquiesced.”
The SEC did not respond to a request for comment by publication time, however on Friday it gave him until Monday to respond.
Spiro said that the SEC also subpoenaed him in its investigation but that he refused to cooperate, and that the agency also reopened a probe into Neuralink, another company owned by Musk.
“This series of events makes clear that the Commission is not motivated to seek the truth but instead is engaged in an improperly motivated campaign against Mr. Musk and the individuals and companies associated with him,” Spiro wrote. “We demand to know who directed these actions—whether it was you or the White House.”
President Joe Biden has in the past called for an investigation into Musk. The White House did not immediately return an inquiry.

In a cute show of strength, Canada has flexed its tiny muscles for a second day in a row and in what it believes is an attempt to intimidate the Trump admin, has threatened to cut off its biggest customer from the one thing that keeps Canada's economy running (hint: it's not illegal aliens or illicit Chinese real estate funs): exports.
According to Bloomberg, Canada is examining the use of export taxes on major commodities it exports to its largest trading partner - the United States - including uranium, oil and potash, to retaliate if incoming president Trump carries out his threat to impose broad tariffs.
Today's threat comes one day after Ontario premier Doug Ford (brother to infamous, and now deceased, Toronto mayor Rob Ford) also flexed what little muscles he has under that copious shell, and suggested that the province would cut off electricity exports to the US over Trump’s tariff threat (which amounts to some 14 million MWh, or enough to power to large data centers).
Citing officials familiar with the discussions inside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government, Bloomberg reports that export levies would be a last resort for Canada. Retaliatory tariffs against US-made goods, and export controls on certain Canadian products, would be more likely to come first.
But commodity export taxes, which would drive up costs for US consumers, farmers and businesses, would be a real option if Trump decides to start a full-scale trade war, said the Bloomberg sources. Continue…
Alberta unveils border security plan with sheriff-led patrols and “red zone”

The Alberta government will deploy a new patrol team with the Alberta sheriffs to monitor its nearly 300-kilometre border with the United States.
In a Thursday announcement, the government confirmed that the new Interdiction Patrol Team would consist of 51 officers, ten support staff, four patrol dogs, ten surveillance drones, and four narcotics analyzers.
On top of the 298 kilometres that will be monitored for drug smuggling, gun trafficking, and illegal immigration, a two-kilometre “red zone” will be created. The Interdiction Patrol Team will also monitor major provincial highways and inter-provincial travel routes to and from the border.
The officers will be trained to inspect commercial vehicles, a common vessel for human trafficking.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith explained at a press conference that the red zone encompasses critical infrastructure and will empower sheriffs to arrest anyone deemed to be crossing the border illegally, trafficking illegal drugs or weapons without a warrant.
However, Minister of Public Safety Mike Ellis said that homeowners in the areas needn’t worry. He added that there would not be a ton of warrantless searches going on but that someone wandering in the middle of nowhere with something illicit would be subject to investigation by law enforcement.
Smith said the border enhancements are not in response to President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs.
She said that she proposed the changes back in a July 2023 mandate letter — which discussed creating a specialized sheriff-led team to combat fentanyl and illegal gun trafficking at the Alberta-U.S. border.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has officially called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to call a federal election.
The news comes after a first ministers meeting with the prime minister and premiers of each province to discuss Canada’s response to US President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs.
Trump threatened a 25% tariff on all Canadian imports until Canada’s southern border has been secured against drug smugglers and illegal immigrants crossing into the United States.
In an interview with Global News, Moe said that it’s time for Canadians to have a choice on who they want to represent them when dealing with the incoming Trump administration, which he said had one of the “strongest mandates in recent history.”
“We’re over our four years of what would be considered the norm for our minority administration here in Canada, and maybe what we need is someone to have the same mandate in Canada to negotiate with that incoming Trump administration,” Moe said. “And so we would ask Prime Minister Trudeau to do the right thing, to give Canadians the opportunity to make a choice on who is going to represent them at the table.”
Moe, who won his fifth consecutive majority government at the end of October, said the premiers at the meeting were looking for an action plan from the federal government with a roadmap on how the provinces could help Canada support it.
“This was primarily due to President-elect Trump’s demands around border security, which I’d say we agree with. The Liberal government’s expansion of its gun “buyback” program also includes a slew of firearm parts.
The Trudeau government announced an additional 324 firearms would be banned last week, with the requirement for gun owners to forfeit them to the government by October 2025 as part of a “buyback” program that hasn’t yet been finalized.
In te newly updated list of parts and components included in the scope of the confiscation program are magazines, sights and grips, bolts and a wide array of barrels. These addons went without mention during last week’s press conference announcing the updated bans.
“This is the most cynical and malevolent action yet, by the Liberal government,” executive director of the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights Rod Giltaca told True North.
“They banned around half a million individual firearms, refused to release the evidence they based that decision on, promised to buy them back, broke that promise, told gun owners just to replace these guns, and turned around and banned the rest of them along with the replacements.”
Prices for the parts range anywhere between $3.20 and $1,264, further driving up the cost of an already expensive taxpayer program.

PepsiCo Canada announced that it will continue charging the GST and HST through the Liberals’ proposed tax break holiday, citing complexities around its billing infrastructure and time constraints.
In a statement sent out to retailers, the food and beverage giant said it will “continue charging GST/HST on qualifying products from Dec. 14, 2024 through Feb. 15, 2025.”
“There will be no changes to our current invoicing processes. Customers can continue to claim input tax credits for any GST/HST paid,” it continued.
A variety of goods are poised to have their federal sales tax removed over the next two months in what the Liberals claim will help Canadians struggling with the high cost of living.
Certain groceries, restaurant meals, drinks, snacks, children’s clothing, and gifts have been selected to qualify for the GST reduction.

Adam Burgoyne, 39, posted to X on Dec. 5, 2024, about his experience in a Quebec emergency room a day before his tragic death.
He said he went to the emergency room after feeling a pain in the left side of his chest, having nausea and clammy skin. After attempting to calm himself and breathe through it, things got worse and he decided to go to the emergency room.
“Had a bit of a health scare last night, but thankfully, it wasn’t a heart attack. Not sure what it was, though, because once they made sure I wasn’t dying, I was thrown out into the waiting room, and six hours later, I said f*ck it and went home,” the post said. “Canadian health care, folks. Best in the world.”
A day after the post was made, Burgoyne died of an aortic aneurysm.
The post has since garnered 13.1 million views. In the comments, he noted that the hospital conducted an electrocardiogram and took his blood pressure but “didn’t even do any blood work or x-rays,” though he speculated that they would have had he waited the “18 hours more” to be seen by a doctor.

35-year-old Saskatchewan hockey player Cole Cusitar credits God with sparing his life after he had to receive 80 stitches following an accident last week where an opponent's skate sliced just below his jugular vein.
A Canadian hockey player has attributed his survival and recovery from a deep cut near his jugular vein to God’s intercession.
In a December 11 interview with The Epoch Times, Cole Cusitar, a Saskatchewan hockey player for the Churchbridge Imperials senior league team, recounted the story of his recent near-fatal injury in which a skate by an opposing player sliced his neck deeply near his jugular vein.
“God was looking out for me that evening,” the 35-year-old senior league player shared, adding that if the cut was an inch lower he “might not have been having this conversation.”
Cusitar, the Churchbridge Imperials team captain, was injured during a December 7 games against the Esterhazy Flyers when he and an opponent fell and got tangled. Cusitar recalled feeling a cold slap across his jaw.
“Just when [the opposing player] fell, one of his back legs just come up and happened to kick me,” Cusitar said, noting that he “didn’t feel much pain at all.”
“When I started to see the blood, I knew I was in rough shape,” he added.
The Esterhazy Flyers player’s state had sliced Cusitar’s jaw near the jugular vein, causing him to bleed badly. The gash was several centimetres wide and 15 centimetres long. Thankfully, it did not cut Cusitar’s jugular vein, but a smaller vein just below his ear. The cut was just half an inch from his jugular vein.
“The Esterhazy player was down on his knees, frantically waving his arms trying to get the attention of the referee to blow the whistle. Once that happened, I could see Cole was down,” Churchbridge head coach Tim Roussin, told local media.
“Once the play stopped, our trainer (Steven Shackleton) ran out onto the ice. Some of the nurses in attendance, they (also) reacted really quickly. They got him right off the ice, through the back doors of the rink and into a truck and to the hospital,” Roussin explained.
Medics rushed Cusitar to the Yorkton Health Centre where they attempted to stop his bleeding. Finally, in the early morning, Cusitar stopped bleeding and was later given 80 stitches through five layers of skin. Continue…

Nancy Pelosi has been barred from receiving the Blessed Sacrament by her ordinary, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, because of her obstinate abortion advocacy. Pelosi has repeatedly ignored Cordileone’s directive.
However, an employee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) gave the media a different reason for Broglio’s refusal on Thursday.
“Michelle Gress, executive director at the office of government relations at the USCCB, told CNA that Broglio declined Pelosi’s request as the Mass had already ended and they ‘didn’t consecrate extra Hosts,” the outlet reported.
Apparently, Pelosi had never met, or did not remember having met Broglio before, for she greeted him by saying she had heard a lot about him.
Broglio is the president of the USCCB as well as the head of the Archdiocese for the Military Services. He served as a member of the Vatican diplomatic corps until 2007 when Pope Benedict appointed him to the latter post. He was elected USCCB president in November 2022.

A government report reveals another double-digit increase in choice of euthanasia option
Euthanasia continues to represent a growing proportion of the mortality rate in Canada, accounting for nearly one in every 20 deaths in the country last year, the latest government figures show.
According to Health Canada’s annual medical assistance in dying (MAID) report, released on Wednesday, 15,343 people were euthanized in the country in 2023, an all-time high. While the number represents an increase of 15.8% over 2022, it registers a drop from an average annual growth rate of about 31%, the report noted.
While the growth rate has declined, it still reveals another double-digit increase in Canadian citizens opting to end their lives under the country’s national suicide law. It is “not yet possible to make reliable conclusions about whether or not these findings represent a stabilization of growth rates over the longer term,” the MAID report added.
Federal statistics show the growth in cases of assisted death making up 4.7% of deaths in 2023, compared to 4.1% the previous year.
More than 95% of euthanasia cases involved people who were terminally ill, with cancer cited as the most common reason for the request. The average age of someone seeking assisted death is over 77. Continue…
