It is difficult for westerners to penetrate the minds of eastern cultures.
The parliament has been trying to harass and investigate the president for some time, now. The political system of SK is a mess and Samsung, LG, and a couple other mega industries own nearly everything.
The culture is generally deferential to authority and the general concept of populism fails hard in eastern societies as a general rule. It is much more nuanced.
K-pop brain rot and a matriarchy also generally doom SK until age reversal comes online - though that is less of a salvation and more of a stay of execution.
There has not been a president of SK in something like 50 years who has not been imprisoned for corruption. The major businesses more or less promote a candidate to the presidency and then dispose of them. None of the government there is legitimate and the society is basically one giant front for manufacturing firms which will exhaust the population in a tragic end that did not need to be.
Great people and I enjoyed my time there. Hope everyone I remember from Korea is doing well and wish the best for them - but it's a different world over there and they do not have the culture which would allow them to fend off internal predatory interests which align with global industrial interests.
