Deny, Delay and Depose is a long known tactic of corrupt insurance companies so they don'y have to pay claims. UHC is notorious.

It's gotten worse with AI because it can be programmed to deny multiple times for various different reasons. This doesn't mean claims managers aren't involved they are in the process, they program the system.

Deny:claims are automatically deny any expensive and even inexpensive claims, then the patient and doctors are forced to resubmit the claims, multiple times.

Delay:with each resubmit the AI denies the same claim for different reasons (none of them medically true), the doctors, hospitals, patients get so frustrated (months and even a year or more of denials).

this is where theDeposecomes in, the claims can be and are life saving services, the longer they submit the claim, the provider still treats the patient (not always though), the more the denial, the closer the insurance company causes worsening health, and can result in the death of the patient, or the patient recovers. If the patient dies, many times the medical providers are willing to write off the claims or continues to try to get paid. So the insurance companies can get away with murder.

UHC is infamous for doing every trick in the book. Usually they start with, telling the provider or patient, they never received the claim, resend it, many times. Etc etc etc

My personal experience: I had to by a UHC individual policy about six years ago because they were the only company that paid for a brand name of a prescription I had to use for years, it was required because brand only worked. I paid a much higher premium to have the $1,200 monthly cost of the drug covered. The first time I tried to fill the drug they denied the claim saying the policy doesn't cover the brand name, even though the brand drug was listed on their formulary for the policy.

I started calling UHC CS but the said you have go to the pharma division, And the never gave the right phone numbers. I was bounced around for 10 days for UHC, they intentionally do not list any direct phone numbers. I think they intentionally scrub the phone numbers on the internet.

I finally called my state insurance department, the examiner was exasperated when I said UHC, she was great and got right on it. Within two hours she contacted me and said you can get your RX now.

Advice: don't waste time if they deny it twice or pass you around, call your state insurance department and file a complaint, especially with UHC.

I can totally understand why the CEO was shot, he probably lost a family member and he saw all the claims and their process.

PS: UHC went on a buying spree years ago, of ancillary companies such as pharma, PT, etc. There are multiple companies related to insurance. So UHC not has the medical units denying claims, they have their owned pharma and other companies by doing the same tactics of what medical claims do.

And I'm sure other insurance companies have done the same, buying up ancillary companies.

No one should think medical insurance companies are anything but corporations that always want to make more money.

Obama destroyed the medical insurance from day one. He forced limitations and costs on companies that destroyed American healthcare forever. And thank McCain for solidifying this farce when he was the only Senator that voted NO to overturn the ACA or Obamacare. No wonder he died shortly after that.
