UPDATE on Venezuela:
Oppositional candidate Edmundo González, and likely winner, of the Presidential race in Venezuela, currently in exile in Switzerland, has announced he will be returning to Venezuela to assume office on January 10th.
Current President Maduro has announced he is the winner and will be inaugurated to a new term as President.
7 members of the oppositional team are seeking safe refuge in the Argentina embassy (being held and maintained by Brazil because Maduro kicked out the Argentina Ambassador and staff). Maduro has shut off all internet and electricity and water to thr Embassy, possibly in violation of international law, while have his military stationed outside 24/7.
The voter tabulation minutes have not been published as required by Venezuela law. Maduro, to combat the negative press in October declared he was changing the date of Christmas and thus Venezuela has essentially celebrated Christmas already this year.
Today is December 7th, which is the unofficial start of the Christmas Season in many Central and South American countries, but especially important in Venezuela. Known as Día de las Velitas (Day of the Little Candles) [now you know why Bath and Body Works do their super candle special in the first week of December)]. But this year Venezuela has already celebrated this holiday, breaking hundreds of years of tradition of having it on December 7th. Tomorrow is the Feast of the Emmaculate Conception.
