Medica announces the closure of its headquarters in Minnetonka following murder of UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.

In addition to closing its offices, Medica has taken further precautions, including removing executive bios from its website. This measure was implemented for the “same precautionary reasons as the building closures,” the company said.

While the closure is temporary, Medica did not provide a timeline for reopening. “The closing is temporary and will reopen when appropriate,” the company stated.

The USGA and LPGA announced on Wednesday that the majority of biological males (transgender athletes) will no longer be allowed to compete in women's golf events starting next year.

According to the policy, which was released on Wednesday, "athletes who are assigned female at birth are eligible to compete on the LPGA Tour, Epson Tour, Ladies European Tour, and in all other elite LPGA competitions. Players assigned male at birth and who have gone through male puberty are not eligible to compete in the aforementioned events."

The policy leaves open the possibility that a biological male who "transitioned" prior to puberty could still compete in women's professional events.

As Harris reported in October, "Davidson failed to advance out of the second stage of LPGA Qualifying School" but "did earn status on the Epson Tour, which is the main feeder tour to the LPGA and equivalent to the Korn Ferry Tour on the men's side."

By contrast, total U.S. print book sales were up less than 1% in that period.

“People are experiencing anxiety themselves, or they’re worried for their children and grandchildren,” said Jeff Crosby, president of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.

UnitedHealth (intentionally) uses faulty AI to deny elderly patients medically necessary coverage, lawsuit claims.

The lawsuit, filed last Tuesday in federal court in Minnesota, claimsUnitedHealthillegally denied "elderly patients care owed to them under Medicare Advantage Plans" by deploying an AI model known by the company to have a 90% error rate, overriding determinations made by the patients' physicians that the expenses were medically necessary.

"The elderly are prematurely kicked out of care facilities nationwideor forced to deplete family savings to continue receiving necessary medical care, all because [UnitedHealth's] AI model 'disagrees' with their real live doctors' determinations," according to the complaint.
