Homes Are Unaffordable, and Shopping Centers Are Being Converted to Living Spaces
A 2023 report from the National Association of Home Builders found that approximately 73% of American families cannot afford a new single-family home at the current median price of $425,786. Retail stores have been going out of business as online shopping rises, and many people worked remotely during the pandemic, which has led to vacant commercial property. 34 million square feet of mall space is sitting vacant. The video report indicates that there is a housing shortage with a deficit of 4.5 million homes. Shopping malls are being repurposed into residential living in tiny apartments. Single family homes are being phased out as people are being herded into cities. The mixed-use development of malls expands on the concept of 15-minute cities that keep people contained in one area for control purposes under the United Nations’ Agenda 2030.
