Feds using banks to surveil Americans’ financial data without warrants, House Judiciary says

Federal law enforcement has been manipulating the Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) system to gain access to Americans’ financial information without warrants or probable cause , the House Judiciary Committee said Friday.

The panel and its Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released its interim report, first obtained by Fox News Digital, which details its findings.

The committee said in the report that the FBI “has manipulated” the SAR’s filing process to treat financial institutions “as de facto arms of law enforcement, issuing ‘requests’ without legal process, that amount to demands for information related to certain persons or activities it considers ‘suspicious.'”

“With narrow exception, federal law does not permit law enforcement to inquire into financial institutions’ customer information without some form of legal process,” the report states. “The FBI circumvents this process by tipping off financial institutions to ‘suspicious’ individuals and encouraging these institutions to file a SAR — which does not require any legal process — and thereby provide federal law enforcement with access to confidential and highly sensitive information.”

The Jewish Stranglehold

In late August 2017, a category 4 tropical cyclone called Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas and Louisiana, killing over 100 Americans and inflicting $125 billion in damages. The heavy rains and high winds, which peaked at 130 mph, made Harvey the costliest natural disaster ever recorded in the Lone Star State, and matched 2005’s Hurricane Katrina as the costliest in our nation’s history. The extraordinary wreckage resulted in more than 42,000 displaced Texans seeking refuge in shelters across the state. A 2018 study conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Episcopal Health Foundation found that at least fifteen percent of the hundreds of thousands of homes that were damaged remained uninhabitable one year later.

Perhaps no place was hit harder by the storm than the city of Dickinson, located about 30 miles south of Houston in Galveston County. Over three-quarters of the city found itself underwater after only three days of catastrophic flooding, the result of an unprecedented 55 inches of rainfall. In an August 25, 2022 news report, Fox 26 Houston recalled the scenes of devastation and the heroic actions of the city’s residents amidst the chaos:

When Hurricane Harvey’s torrential rains hammered down, no community was arguably hit harder and deeper than Dickinson. In a matter of hours, a full 85 percent of Dickinson’s homes and businesses were inundated with water. Calls for rescue soon followed. Hundreds of them. Police Chief Ron Morales remembers clearly the outcries. “People crying desperately for help. It was like someone had a gun to their head fixing to pull the trigger fear,” said Morales. And the calls kept coming. . . Short on rescue crafts and surrounded by rising water, with no way in or out, Morales put out the call for help. What happened next, is the stuff of legends. “They just came in boat after boat, after boat. To me, all the volunteers were the heroes. Everybody that volunteered and there was countless, countless people,” said Morales.

It may be hard for Americans to believe but shortly after the historic disaster, Dickinson city officials informed their fellow townsmen that signing a loyalty pledge to Israel, a foreign country located over 7,000 miles away, was a prerequisite for receiving federal relief funds. As reported by BBC News (Oct. 20, 2017):

Local officials say the pro-Israel clause is required under a Texas state law enacted earlier this year. . . In the four-page recovery aid application posted on the city’s website, a section reads: ‘By executing the Agreement below, the Applicant verifies that the Applicant: (1) does not boycott Israel; and (2) will not boycott Israel during the term of this Agreement.’ Boycotting Israel includes any action intended ‘to penalise, inflict economic harm on, or limit commercial relations specifically with Israel,’ according to the law. The law, known as the Anti-BDS (Boycott, Divestments, and Sanctions) bill, was signed by Republican Governor Greg Abbott in May. ‘Anti-Israel policies are anti-Texas policies, and we will not tolerate such actions against an important ally,’ the governor said in a statement earlier this year.

IG finds Justice Department spied on Patel and other congressional staffer without telling courts

As a result of the probe, the department obtained phone records from two members of Congress and 43 staff members, including President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, Kash Patel.

The Justice Department spied on two House members and and several congressional staffers in a leak investigation without telling the courts, the agency's inspector general found in a sweeping investigation released Tuesday.

As a result, the department obtained phone records from the two members of Congress and 43 staff members including President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, who worked as a staffer on the GOP-led House Intelligence Committee at the time.

The department initiated the probe to investigate leaks to the media of FBI classified information as part of the now-discredited Trump-Russia probe which had recently been shared with Congress.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that the Justice Department, in filings with the court, did not reference “the fact that they related to requests for records of Members of Congress or congressional staffers," despite implicating constitutional separation of powers between two government branches.

Patel, who is poised to become the new director of the FBI if confirmed, previously sued former Trump Justice Department officials and FBI Director Christopher Wray, accusing them of violating his Fourth Amendment right to protection from unreasonable searches and seizures when they tried to obtain Patel's personal records, Just the News previously reported.

Scholz, Macron ready to cooperate with new Syrian government — German cabinet

Both agreed that they are ready to cooperate with the new authorities

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron, and they expressed readiness to cooperate with the new Syrian government if it upholds fundamental human rights and protects ethnic and religious minorities, German cabinet spokesman Steffen Hebestreit told reporters.

"They spoke primarily about the situation in Syria. Both agreed that they are ready to cooperate with the new authorities on the basis of fundamental human rights and the protection of ethnic and religious minorities," he said.

Scholz and Macron noted the importance of preserving Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, according to the spokesman.

"Both agreed to work together to step up the European Union's engagement in Syria, including support for an inclusive political process in the country. The next steps will be discussed in close coordination with partners in the Middle East," Hebestreit said.

Syria’s armed opposition units started a large-scale offensive on government troops in the Aleppo and Idlib governorates on November 27. By the evening of December 7, they seized several large cities, including Aleppo, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, and Homs. On December 8, they entered Damascus while government troops withdrew from the city. Bashar Assad resigned as president and fled the country.

SCOTUS Asked To Block State From Investigating Doctors Who Question COVID-19 Policies

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas this week revived an emergency application to block the Washington Medical Commission from investigating licensed physicians in the state over their criticism of COVID-19 policies.

The Washington state commission deems the doctors’ dissenting views on the disease as potentially dangerous misinformation that should be suppressed. The physicians counter that just because they have medical licenses they don’t forfeit their free speech rights under the First Amendment.

The Dec. 4 order by Thomas regarding the application in Stockton v. Ferguson was unusual in that Justice Elena Kagan rejected the same application on Nov. 20. The applicants renewed their request in a court filing directed to Thomas on Nov. 22.

Supreme Court rules allow an application that has been denied by one justice to be presented to another justice. Neither Thomas nor Kagan explained their respective decisions.

The application is now scheduled to be considered by all nine justices at the court’s private judicial conference on Jan. 10, 2025. The justices could grant an injunction against the commission, deny the injunction, or schedule the case for oral argument.

As of Dec. 6, the Supreme Court had not requested a reply from the commission.

The application was brought by former professional basketball player John Stockton along with Drs. Richard Eggleston, Thomas Siler, and Daniel Moynihan and another 50 unidentified medical doctors, as well as Children’s Health Defense, a nonprofit founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2025, has nominated Kennedy to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy, an attorney, is also listed as co-counsel on the application.

The applicants filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, which denied the injunction on May 22. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit denied the injunction on Sept. 3. An appeal remains pending in the Ninth Circuit.

The application states that it concerns the state’s program that targets “Washington-licensed physicians for expressing public views on COVID-19 that diverge from prevailing orthodoxy.”

I am not Assad – Serbian president

Aleksandar Vucic has told opposition protesters he intends to fight, not flee

As the Syrian government collapsed over the weekend, several opposition activists in Serbia compared Vucic to Assad and wished to see him leave the country as well.

“If they think I’m Assad, and that I’ll run away somewhere, I will not,” Vucic said in a video post on Instagram late on Monday.

“I will fight for Serbia and serve only my own people,” the president added. “I will never serve the foreigners, or those who wish to defeat, humiliate and destroy Serbia.”

Vucic called out opposition protesters as being agents of outside powers, funded from abroad as part of “hybrid tactics to undermine the country.”

We need to scrutinize U.S. government funding of “non-government organizations.” It’s an oxymoron that represents a waste of taxpayer dollars, but the real problem runs deeper: Americans deserve transparency on opaque foreign aid & nonprofit groups abetting our own border crisis.

Trump shooting task force releases final report, accuses agencies of failing to produce docs

In the second shooting, lawmakers noted that there were "critical vulnerabilities" in the security of the golf course, but said federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) did not provide further information it needed on the preparation and response to the shooting.

In its final report, the House task force investigating the assassination attempts against President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday accused multiple government agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service (USSS), of failing to produce documents it requested for its probe.

Trump survived two assassination attempts earlier this year, including one in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet struck his ear. The second attempt occurred in Palm Beach, Florida, in September. Trump was not injured in the second attempt.

The bipartisan panel, which released its final report into the shootings on Tuesday, said there were multiple leadership failures that contributed to the deadly shooting in Pennsylvania in July.

In the second shooting, lawmakers noted that there were "critical vulnerabilities" in the security of the golf course, but said federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) did not provide further information they needed on the preparation and response to the shooting, per Fox News.

"The Task Force notes that as of the date of publication of this report, [the Department of Homeland Security], USSS, FBI, and ATF have not produced any documents responsive to the Task Force’s requests regarding the preparation for, events of, and response to the second assassination attempt that occurred on September 15," the report said.

The 180-page report also suggested Congress consider detaching the Secret Service from the Department of Homeland Security and make it independent. The agency was previously part of the Treasury Department.

"The current structure potentially weakens USSS, a small but critically important agency, in advocating for its budget and other priorities inside a much larger entity," the report said. "The failure in [Butler, Pennsylvania] was far from the first significant USSS failure in recent history, and it is fair to question whether USSS should continue to be housed within DHS.

"A fresh look at whether USSS might benefit from the status of an independent agency, with more freedom to make budget requests and advocate for itself, would be a healthy discussion for former USSS leaders to have with Congress," it added.
