Trump Invites China's Xi to Attend His Inauguration, CBS News Reports

https://www.newsmax.com/politics/trump-xi-transition/2024/12/11/id/1191332/

President-elect Donald Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend his inauguration next month, CBS News reported on Wednesday, citing multiple sources.

The invitation to the Jan. 20 inauguration in Washington occurred in early November, shortly after the Nov. 5 presidential election, and it was not clear if it had been accepted, CBS reported.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump said in an interview with NBC News conducted on Friday that he "got along with very well" with Xi and that they had "had communication as recently as this week."

It would be unprecedented for a leader of China, a top U.S. geopolitical rival, to attend a U.S. presidential inauguration.

Trump has named numerous China hawks to key posts in his incoming administration, including Senator Marco Rubio as secretary of state.

The president-elect has said he will impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods unless Beijing does more to stop trafficking of the highly addictive narcotic fentanyl. He also threatened tariffs in excess of 60% on Chinese goods while on the campaign trail.

In late November, China's state media warned Trump that his pledge to slap additional tariffs on Chinese goods over fentanyl flows could drag the world's top two economies into a mutually destructive tariff war.

Separately on Wednesday, China's U.S. Ambassador Xie Feng read a letter from Xi to a U.S.-China Business Council gala in Washington, in which the Chinese leader said Beijing was prepared to stay in communication with the U.S.

"We should choose dialog over confrontation and win-win cooperation over zero-sum games," Xi said in the letter.

Xie added that the two countries should not decouple supply chains. But Nicholas Burns, the U.S. ambassador to Beijing, said in a prerecorded video address that China at times tried to "sugar coat" challenging and competitive relations.

"No amount of happy talk can obscure our profound differences," Burns said.

Trump Border Czar Tom Homan Gets a Hero’s Welcome in Blue Chicago Talking About Deportations (VIDEO)

https://saraacarter.com/trump-border-czar-tom-homan-gets-a-heros-welcome-in-blue-chicago-talking-about-deportations-video/

Trump border czar Tom Homan recently spoke to a crowd in blue Chicago and was met with cheers and applause as he described how deportations were going to start right there in the Windy City.

Homan was speaking at an event sponsored by a local law enforcement group and the audience may have leaned a bit to the right but you have to take the location into account. Chicago is not known for being a Republican stronghold.

Over the last year, there have been numerous videos showing inner city residents who are absolutely livid about illegal aliens being moved into their neighborhoods. There are plenty of people in the city who want what Homan is describing.

ABC News in Chicago reports:

Incoming border czar Tom Homan promises mass deportation: ‘Going to start right here in Chicago’

Incoming border czar Tom Homan showed up in Portage Park on Monday, swinging hard at both the city’s mayor and the Illinois governor, who have promised to fight his plans for mass deportation.

It was a raucous welcome from a loyal Republican crowd in one of Chicago’s most conservative wards.

The man charged with executing President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to crack down on illegal immigration repeated his plan for mass deportations in no uncertain terms.

“All that starts January 21, and we’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois,” Homan said.

“I love it. I love it. Bring it. People need to know that this is a country with laws, and we’re going to have order,” said Chicago GOP Chairman Chuck Hernandez.

Everyone in Chicago wants change, except for the status quo Democrats. Homan is going to bring it.

Rats are jumping ship!

Top Border Official To Step Down As Biden’s Term Nears End

https://conservativebrief.com/top-border-official-87850/

Troy Miller, who led U.S. Customs and Border Protection during much of President Joe Biden’s term, announced he will retire at the end of December.

Miller oversaw the largest federal law enforcement agency during a period of record illegal border crossings and considerable disaffection among Border Patrol agents.

Miller was never nominated for commissioner but held the top post as a “Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Commissioner.” CBP has not appointed an interim replacement.

President-elect Donald Trump will select former Border Patrol commander Rodney Scott for the Senate-confirmed commissioner position. After retiring in 2021, Scott has been a frequent Fox News contributor and Biden opponent.

Miller, a career official who shunned partisanship, was restrained and prioritized law enforcement over border politics. Most of his work was with CBP’s Office of Field Operations, whose blue-uniformed officers patrol U.S. airports, border crossings, and customs inspection facilities.

President-elect Donald Trump has said that he picked Rodney Scott, who used to be the head of the Border Patrol, for the position of commissioner.

Scott would need to be confirmed by the Senate. Since he retired in 2021, Scott has been a regular guest on Fox News and a vocal critic of Biden.

As a professional official, Miller did everything he could to avoid looking like he had a political agenda. He was known for being quiet and putting law enforcement tasks ahead of border politics. He worked for a long time at CBP’s Office of Field Operations, which is where the blue-shirted officers who work at U.S. airports, border crossings, and customs screening points are stationed.

Illegal crossings from Mexico averaged 2 million per year between 2021 and 2023, the highest levels ever recorded.

“Miller has overseen CBP’s efforts to interdict more illegal fentanyl and contraband along the Mexico border through a major expansion of powerful, next-generation scanning equipment for trucks and vehicles arriving at official crossings, known as ports of entry,” the Washington Post reported.

“His career at CBP was defined by the reorganization of U.S. border security operations in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. He helped established and lead the National Targeting Center in Sterling, Virginia, which functions as the centralized hub for CBP’s efforts to assess and screen passengers and cargo heading into the United States from abroad. He later ran CBP’s sprawling New York field office,” the outlet added.

Earlier this month, Trump has confirmed his plan to initiate mass deportations once back in office, top aides have said.

Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s national campaign press secretary, stated that Trump’s overwhelming victory serves as a clear endorsement of the policies he championed throughout his campaign.

“The American people delivered a resounding victory for President Trump, and it gives him a mandate to govern as he campaigned, to deliver on the promises that he made,” Leavitt said, according to Newsweek.

“Which include, on Day One, launching the largest mass deportation operation of illegal immigrants that Kamala Harris has allowed into this country. It includes drill, baby drill, and expediting permits for nuclear, for fossil fuels, for an above-all energy approach that’s going to bring down the cost of living in this country,” she said.

Speaker Johnson Hails Defense Bill, Targets Woke, NewsGuard

https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/mike-johnson-defense-bill-woke/2024/12/12/id/1191380/

House Speaker Mike Johnson is praising chamber members for passing the annual National Defense Authorization Act, saying that its provisions will "refocus the Pentagon on military lethality, not radical woke ideology."

"Today's passage of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) includes important wins for our troops and ensures our military has the necessary resources and support to defend our great nation," the Louisiana Republican said in a statement Wednesday. "Our men and women in uniform should know their first obligation is protecting our nation, not woke ideology."

He added that it is "disappointing" that 124 Democrats voted against the act and "against our brave men and women in uniform over policies that have nothing to do with their intended mission."

The act includes several provisions on spending, prohibiting contracts with advertising firms such as NewsGuard Technologies, which "blacklist conservative news sources," said Johnson.

"This legislation permanently bans transgender treatment for minors, prohibits critical race theory in military academies, ends the DEI bureaucracy, and combats antisemitism," the speaker said.

The NDAA, he said, will focus the military's attention on the core mission of defending the United States, including supporting law enforcement operations and the deployment of the National Guard to the southern border, while expediting innovation and reducing the time for acquisition of new weapons.

It also allows the United States to support its allies and strengthens the nation's nuclear posture and missile defense programs, while providing the military with the tools needed to confront "increasingly hostile threats" from China, Russia, and Iran, said Johnson.

"Because we believe in peace through strength, we blocked the Biden administration's plan to reduce the number of U.S. special forces," he added.

The legislation also serves to make "landmark" investments in the quality of life for members of the military and their families through providing "significant pay increases to our servicemembers, reducing barriers to employment for military spouses, and improving military housing and access to childcare," said Johnson.

Highlights of the defense bill include:

Giving junior enlisted servicemembers a 14.5% pay raise.

Supporting the deployment of the National Guard at the southwest border to intercept illegal aliens and drugs.

Sections that address security threats from China, including preventing Chinese espionage in the United States military, supply chains, and research institutions.

Expanding U.S.-Israel military exercises and fully funding cooperative missile defense programs.

Increasing funding for U.S. defense initiatives in the Indo-Pacific to bolster Taiwan's defense and support Indo-Pacific allies.

Saving $31 billion by cutting out inefficient programs, obsolete weapons, and bloated Pentagon bureaucracy, and another $4 billion in programs that do not meet requirements.

Abolishing the DEI bureaucracy and climate change programs.

Banning teaching, training or promotion of critical race theory.

Permanently banning transgender medical treatment for minors.

Countering antisemitism, including the prohibition of sales of goods at commissaries and exchanges from entities engaged in boycotting Israel.
