It's not at all abnormal for a president to "jawbone" the Fed i.e. try to affect it by talking. That's why there's a special word for it.
But I was never sure why Trump appointed an interest rate hawk as Fed chair. He knew he would want a relatively easy monetary policy, unless he's BSing now and they really think the economy can handle a strong dollar, while putting more pressure on our competitors.
I don't think that's a very good idea -- I agree with what Trump said. So why did Trump appoint a hawk, now complains about hawkish policy?
