Jamie Foxx recovering after physical altercation at Beverly Hills restaurant
Jamie Foxx is recovering after an incident at a restaurant during his birthday dinner on Friday left him with injuries.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” a spokesperson for Foxx said. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
The Beverly Hills Police Department said it responded to “a reported possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow restaurant, located at 344 N. Camden Drive.” The incident happened just after 10 p.m., police said, though the department does not mention Foxx by name.
“Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded,” BHPD said. “Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties. The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.”
CNN has reached out to Mr. Chow for comment.
The incident comes days after the Hollywood star detailed the struggles he had with his health last year in a Netflix special titled: “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.”
Foxx released a statement on social media Sunday morning thanking his supporters and pushing people toward his Netflix special.
“The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” the post says. “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright…”
‘I don’t remember 20 days’
In the Netflix special released Tuesday, Foxx said he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke during a medical emergency he faced last year.
“It is a mystery,” the Oscar-winning actor said in the Netflix special. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me.”
“April 11, I was having a bad headache and I asked my boy for an aspirin. And I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f**k to do,” he said on Netflix.
“Before I could get the aspirin I went out,” he said. “I don’t remember 20 days.”
Foxx thanked his sister, who he said was “4 foot 11 of nothing but pure love,” for driving him around Atlanta to find a hospital.
They ended up at Piedmont Hospital, where a doctor told them Foxx was having a brain bleed that had led to a stroke and that he would die without an operation, the actor says on the Netflix special.
After the operation, doctors said Foxx might make a full recovery, “but it’s going to be the worst year of his life,” Foxx said on Netflix.

ABC News’ Trump Settlement ‘An Awful Precedent’ in ‘Bending the Knee,’ Media Pundits Say
The $15 million settlement struck between ABC News, George Stephanopoulos, and Donald Trump drew strong reactions Saturday. The decision “feels like one more mainstream news organization bending the knee,” NPR TV critic Eric Deggans said on X, formerly Twitter.
News of the settlement came a day after Trump was ordered to sit for a four-hour deposition in the case. Stephanopoulos and the news network will pay a $15 donation to a future presidential library or similar foundation, will publicly apologize to Trump, and will pay $1 million of Trump’s legal fees.
Journalist Paul Farhi called the settlement “An awful precedent and a huge sellout.” That sentiment was echoed by Keith Olbermann, who wrote on X, “What a great look @abc News.”
Stelter also shared a post from lawyer Marc E. Elias, who commented, “Knee bent. Ring kissed. Another legacy news outlet chooses obedience.”
Defending Democracy Together’s Bill Kristol warned, “ABC’s settlement with Trump feels like it could be an inflection point in the Orbanization of our politics. I hope it isn’t.” The reference is to Hungary strongman Viktor Orban, who consolidated that country’s reins of power upon election.
The statement from ABC News read:
“ABC News and George Stephanopoulos regret statements regarding President Donald J. Trump made during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024,” Stephanopoulos and ABC News said in a statement after the settlement was announced.
Trump filed his lawsuit against ABC News and Stephanopoulos in March. The federal suit followed a heated discussion with Congresswoman Nancy Mace in which Stephanopoulos questioned Mace, an outspoken survivor of rape, about her endorsement of Trump.
“You’ve endorsed Donald Trump for president,” Stephanopoulos told Mace. “Donald Trump has been found liable for rape by a jury. Donald Trump has been found liable for defaming the victim of that rape by a jury. It’s been affirmed by a judge—” he continued before Mace interjected, “It was not a criminal court case, number one.”
“Number two, I live with shame. And you’re asking me a question about my political choices, trying to shame me as a rape victim — I find it disgusting, and quite frankly, E. Jean Carroll’s comments when she did get the judgment joking about what she was going to buy, it doesn’t… it makes it harder for women to come forward when they make a mockery out of rape,” Mace also said.
Mace continued in that vein and concluded, “I had to tell my story, because no other woman was coming towards me, no rape victims were represented, and you’re trying to shame me this morning. I’m just— I find it offensive and this is why women won’t come forward.”
The pair’s back and forth was about author E. Jean Carroll’s own lawsuit against Trump. Carroll accused Trump of rape, and a Manhattan jury found Trump liable for sexual battery and defamation. Judge Lewis Kaplan later clarified the ruling came down to New York’s limited legal definition of “rape” and said that it did not mean Carroll “failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’”

Buckingham Palace Responds After Royal Family Maid Is Arrested at "Out of Control" Christmas Party
If you assumed that working for the Royal Family would be a strictly professional affair, you'd apparently be mistaken. According to multiple reports, this year's Christmas party for Buckingham Palace staff got a little out of hand and even led to one person getting arrested.
After having pre-party drinks at Buckingham Palace, approximately fifty staff members attended a planned party at the venue All Bar One in London, per The Sun. It reportedly didn't take much time for the party to get entirely "out of control," however, with the outlet reporting, "A woman believed to be a housemaid aimed a punch at the manager, smashed glasses and was arrested." A source told the outlet that the party had been "a tough night" for all concerned.
Of the alleged incident, a Met Police spokesperson told Hello! magazine, "On Tuesday, December 10, officers were called to a bar in Victoria Street, SW1 following reports that a customer had smashed glasses and attempted to assault a member of staff."
"Officers attended and arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage, and being drunk and disorderly," the Met Police statement continued. "She was taken into custody and released the following evening having been given a penalty notice for disorder."
Buckingham Palace provided a response to the outlet, saying of the Christmas party, "We are aware of an incident outside the workplace involving a number of Household staff who had previously attended an early evening reception at the Palace." The statement continued, "While this was an informal social gathering, not an official Palace Christmas party, the facts will be fully investigated, with a robust disciplinary process followed in relation to individual staff and appropriate action taken."
Discussing the alleged events that transpired at the party, a source told The Sun, "I've never seen one person get that crazy during a night out. She was on another level."
Describing the altercation in more detail, one source alleged to the outlet, "She started smashing glasses and abusing our staff members, so we had to call the police." Another source claimed, "It had been a crazy night, we were incredibly busy and we had to deal with so many bookings."
Presumably, the Royal Family's Christmas party at Sandringham will be a little more sedate than the staff member event. In fact, Prince William recently described his Christmas plans, which sounded very low-key.
