Romney predicts JD Vance will be GOP’s 2028 nominee

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) predicts that Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who is the Vice President-elect, will be the Republican Party’s 2028 presidential nominee.

 

Romney joined CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday for his Congressional exit interview,where host Jake Tapper asked him about a post-Trump Republican Party.

 

“Oh, MAGA is the Republican Party, and Donald Trump is the Republican Party today,” Romney said.

“And if you were to ask me who the nominee will be in 2028,it’ll be JD Vance,” he continued.

 

Romney: ‘I don’t know’ how Democratic Party recovers

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said he isn’t sure how the Democratic Partyrecovers from its 2024 election losses.

 

In an interview with CNN Sunday, Romneysaid “MAGA is the Republican Party” and argued that the Democratic Party is “in trouble.”

 

“I don’t know how they recover,” he said. “I’m not going to tell them what to do because I wouldn’t begin to have the capacity to do so.But, they’ve lost their base.”

 

Romney noted that Democrats lost union voters, working class voters and people who took issue with several “woke” points of messaging across the campaign.

 

“The Democratic Party is seen, not as rich people, but as college professors and woke scolds, and that’s not an attractive feature,” he said.

 

‘I don’t think history will remember Mitt Romney’

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) joined CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday for his Congressional exit interview, noting that he thinks his political legacy will be a “footnote” in the history books.

 

Romney, 77, was asked by host Jake Tapper about how he wants to be remembered for his time serving the country.

 

“I don’t think history will remember Mitt Romney,”he replied, adding “It’s a footnote for somebody who’s reading ancient history.”

I didn't hear the interview but, is Mitt trying to say there is a new Reublican party, its MAGA, as. Good thing. Or is he trying to slip out?
