Loudermilk unveils transcripts, disputes Cheney’s claim of transparent Jan. 6 investigation

Loudermilk’s investigation has shown that the Jan. 6 panel withheld crucial witness testimony from the public that conflicted with claims made by a key witness.

House Administration Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Barry Loudermilk, the head of a House Republican probe into the Jan. 6 Select Committee, disputed claims from the panel’s former vice chair that the conclusions of the Democrat-led probe were supported by a “tremendous weight of evidence.”

In a report this week, Loudermilk’s subcommittee accused Cheney of tampering with witness testimony in the probe and asked the FBI to investigate.

Cheney responded, “Chairman Loudermilk’s 'Interim Report' intentionally disregards the truth and the Select Committee’s tremendous weight of evidence, and instead fabricates lies and defamatory allegations in an attempt to cover up what Donald Trump did.”

But Loudermilk’s investigation has shown that the Jan. 6 panel withheld crucial witness testimony from the public that conflicted with key claims made by the Select Committee’s star witness, Cassidy Hutchison.

"Liz Cheney and [Select Committee Chair] Benny Thompson are trying to say that my investigation has disregarded the truth of January 6, pointing to their Select Committee’s 'tremendous weight of evidence’," Loudermilk said in a statement. "We evaluated that exact weight based on their records and found it slimmer than claimed."

"Cheney claims the Select Committee's report was based on the testimony of hundreds of witnesses, whose testimony was made public. However, Cheney and Thompson did not make ALL transcripts public. They hid transcripts of first-hand witnesses who directly refuted their 'star witness' Cassidy Hutchinson's sensational story, which Cheney had personally procured,” he continued.

Loudermilk released several transcripts from firsthand witnesses to the events of the Jan. 6 riot who disputed key claims from Hutchison. The former Mark Meadows aide continues to face scrutiny over her shifting testimony to the Select Committee that produced the most viral narratives about President-elect Donald Trump.

For example, she testified that Trump angrily lunged at a Secret Service driver when the detail refused to drive him to the Capitol building. However, firsthand witness testimony directly contradicted Hutchinson’s claim and also suggests the Select Committee withheld evidence that conflicted with its narrative.
