It's a speculative mania. That's all some of the youngerfolks have ever known.
Deep down they are hoping they will be lucky enough to have picked companies that will come out with a game-changing technology. Won't happen. All those so-called hot stocks of the dotcom era and thereafter experienced huge capital inflows from the CIA, Rothschilds, whoever wanted to pick winners, create markets, create momentum. As you've said, it's not sustainable and it's not a real market with real price discovery.
Fundamental value is not priced accurately. Gross distortions rule the markets.
As you also know, insiders and dark pools of capital deliberately create momentum movements in asset prices, and because of their foreknowledge, they are able to bet successfully on both the up-moves and down-moves. It's like a tidal electricity generator. The turbines turn when the tide is coming in, and they turn again when the tide is going out. Both directions create profit for the insiders that created the setup.
