New Jersey mayor's chilling drone tale sends anxious residents into panic: 'Is that supposed to make us feel better?'

Updated: 00:09 EST, 21 December 2024

The mayor of a New Jersey town has done little to reassure residents about repeated drone sightings after sharing a disturbing experience he'd heard about.

Mayor Mike Ghassali of Montvale took to Facebook to reveal what happened to a resident's robot when they had a run-in with a mysterious drone hovering in the air - noting there was 'sophisticated' technology at play on December 15.

'A highly respected, professional and trustworthy Montvale resident informed me with 100 percent certainty, that his son’s hobby drone attempted to follow one of the drones and it was "drone-jacked".

'He lost total control of his drone and it went disappearing into the air. It seems these are very sophisticated drones with counter offensive systems.'

However, what was meant to be an informative fact instead left locals more anxious and angered. Many demanded for scientific proof while others accused the mayor of 'fearmongering'.

'Although I appreciate you bringing attention to this issue, I do think you need to stay with facts, not third hand rumors without proof. Can we provide this experiment on film with your drone?' one challenged.

While another simply questioned: 'Is that supposed to make us feel better?'

'With all due respect Mr Mayor Mike Ghassali, it seems putting up social media post, declaring emergency and during TV interviews is not resolving matter.

How do we get this in front of the congressmen and senators of the state so they can get answers from the FBI?,' one enraged Facebook-er wished to know.

A concerned local added: 'So a nameless person with an alleged son with an alleged drone claims it was allegedly "clone-jacked"??? Please stop with the fear mongering and be more responsible.'

Demanding evidence, another said: 'Where is the video of it happening?' One local just commented: 'Holy cow 'while another added, 'This is crazy'.

'We need answers. What were they? Whose were they?,' a Facebook user insistently probed.

Another asked: 'What are the feds gonna do about it?' 'Stop trying to create more panic and anxiety by declaring something you actually don't have authority to do,' one also noted.

Mayor Ghassali has notably not responded to any of the comments on the post or provided more information about the incident. DailyMail.com has approached the mayor for comment.

Two days before he shared the troubling episode, Mayor Ghassali also announced a ban on flying drones over his town.

'It’s now becoming a complete joke. The feds can’t control the air space, and yesterday my phone didn’t stop with drone sightings messages.

'Granted, some were small planes but we did have actual drones on top of us. 'So I am making an emergency declaration: NO FLY ZONE FOR DRONES over my town, Montvale.

'FLY AT YOUR OWN RISK. Residents: Please do not discharge your weapons,' he wrote on Facebook.

On December 19, a New Jersey military base revealed one of the sinister reasons behind 'multiple' drone incursions over the past year.

The base, commonly referred to as McGuire AFB, is home to a low-security facility, FCI Fort Dix Prison, which houses the largest inmate population of any federal prison in the US.

'This year, there have been multiple drone detections, involving attempts to smuggle contraband into the federal correctional institution hosted on our base,' base spokesperson Kitsana R. Dounglomchan told The War Zone.

However, Dounglomchan explains that the airspace directly above the joint base enforces 'standing flight restrictions', which prohibit drones or other aircrafts from operating without authorization.

The unauthorized drone use in years past has been linked to attempts to sneak contraband, including cell phones, cell phone accessories, weight loss supplements and other prohibited items into the facility.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Broadhurst County claims that the increased drone incidents are related to efforts to smuggle contraband into a federal prison within the base's perimeter.

The base, located about 18 miles south of Trenton, 'takes each case seriously' and 'aggressively coordinates' with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of the location.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Raises New Question About Mystery Drones

Dec 21, 2024 at 12:38 PM EST

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, raised a new question on Saturday about the mysterious drone sightings that have recently been reported across the country, asking why the term "drone" is being used to describe them.

Newsweek has reached out to Greene's office via email for comment.

Officials at local and federal levels have been baffled by reports of mystery drone sightings spotted in Northeastern states such as New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Residents in Ohio, Florida, Massachusetts, and California, have also reported seeing drones flying overhead, raising concerns about security threats and speculation of foreign involvement.

Federal officials, like Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, have repeatedly sought to calm public anxieties, affirming there's no evidence of foreign involvement or ill intent behind the sightings.

However, conspiracy theories have flourished online about the drones, ranging from foreign espionage to government cover-ups.

The reports began mid-November and a recent statement from the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said there have been over 5,000 sightings of drones across states on the East Coast in recent weeks.

In response to the rise in drone sightings, lawmakers have called on federal agencies to investigate the issue further.

The sightings, which have sparked unease in affected communities, have not been linked to foreign interference or immediate public safety threats, according to national security officials.

Greene is one of several lawmakers who have challenged the official information given by government agencies about the drone sightings.

On Saturday, the congresswoman took to X, formerly Twitter, to raise questions on why the term "drone" is being used.

"Why are they calling them drones? For a long time it was UFO [unidentified flying object], then it became UAP [unidentified aerial phenomenon].

Ever since these things started being seen in NJ, the term used has been 'drone.' Who made that the official term and why?

That seems to convey knowing what they are versus using an acronym starting with a 'U' that stands for unidentified."

The investigation into the drone sightings was initially opened due to reports of pilots identifying unidentified UAS's [unmanned aircraft systems].

An FBI official said last week during a press call that "most of the reports of UAS have originated from the ground, with very, very few reports of UAS activity from pilots of manned aircraft."

Since then, there has been intense pressure on federal agencies to provide more information about the sightings.

Top Tory goes on bizarre rant about alien life, UFOs and drone sightings

17:24, 21 Dec 2024

A Tory council leader went on a bizarre rant about alien life, UFOs and drone sightings in the US.

“There must be other life out there,” Barry Lewis, the Conservative leader of Derbyshire county council said in a Twitter thread that ran to more than 1,200 words.

Mr Lewis also mused governments might have “captured crashed craft and are reverse engineering them with their defence contractor partners”.

Mr Lewis accepts that some will be sceptical, noting that “there’s still some reticence by some press outlets and reporters and governments (or individuals within for fear of looking a bit ‘out there’)”.

He went on: “short of a tracked interstellar craft landing on the White House lawn and little green men popping out of it for a chat, there will be those who won’t ever entertain the idea of [UFOs]”.

Louise Jones, the Labour MP for North East Derbyshire, said: “My constituents deserve better than this rant about UFOs.

“They expect their council leader to tackle the things that really matter to this area. Aliens are not one of them.”

‘I don’t know where you’re gonna go’: Soldier says the New Jersey drones are coming from us. Then he says that the ‘orbs’ are the real problem

December 21 2024 7:08 am CST

It seems like every five minutes there’s new news and rumors about the rash of drones sightings causing worry in cities all across the country, along with mysterious flashing orbs visible in the sky.

Some quick-study keyboard drone experts point to the correlation to drone sightings around U.S. military bases located near land owned by Chinese interests.

But what if it’s an off-world brand of alien force that’s behind the phenomenon? That’s the claim being made by creator Will (@unspokenwill), in a TikTok clip that went viral before the account it was posted in was allegedly shut down.

Reposted in the @unspokenwill account, Will, who is dressed in U.S. Army fatigues with the Williams surname tag, tells us that the drone sightings are the work of the federal government.

But the orbs? Those are candidates for a close encounter of the third kind.

“There are man-made drones and we’re doing the launching,” he said. “Now what you do have to be concerned of… is the orbs that’s inside the sky that y’all see that’s going and stuff that’s shooting down drones.”

‘Evacuate’

Will doesn’t mince words about what he thinks is ahead for mankind: “Aliens are real and we will have to evacuate sooner than later.”

In a follow-up clip that’s been viewed more than 190,000 times, he responds to comments asking how to evacuate from an ongoing alien takeover.

“I don’t know where you’re gonna go. I don’t know if you gonna survive. But it is what it is. It’s 2024 and it’s the end times.”

The volume of drone sightings and the attention they’ve been receiving is so substantial that even highly skeptical mainstream media like the New York Times have joined the fray, asking if New Jersey is turning into the new Area 51.

As we covered earlier this week, NASA and other federal leaders have jumped in to dispel rumors about the space agency’s alleged involvement in the rash of drone sightings.

It’s important to note that we have no details on Will to confirm whether he’s an actual member of the military, since there’s been no response to direct messages sent to his two active TikTok accounts.

The repost on one of his alternate accounts (@unspokenwill2) he posts the disclaimer: “TIKTOK DO NOT REMOVE MY VIDEO THIS IS FOR CONTENT ONLY dont take nothing serious tiktok

This could just be a case of someone using a top-level military costume to play one everyone’s curiosity and concern over a mysterious happening that so far hasn’t been fully explained.

Are feds and aliens teaming up?

Commenters on the clip had a wide variety of responses to Will’s claims.

“The orbs come in peace. The ones below us are controlling us. Orbs going to war for us to liberate us,” one wrote.

Another was having a full-on freakout: “Those things are not drones and definitely not man made. No one has ever seen those things touch the ground. They hover in the sky for months without landing. We have no idea what they are.”

And another was taking more of an X-Files view of things.

“I wonder if whats goin on rn has any connections to President Eisenhower & the “Treaty” he made with “them” in 1954,” they wrote.

As for the drone videos in the Northeast? Mostly planes, reports show.

All the same, the Federal Aviation Administration just banned drone flights over New Jersey. New York state is implementing restrictions too.

Astonishing moment 'UFO' captured onboard British Airways flight heading over North Sea

05:20, 21 DEC 2024

This is the astonishing moment passengers travelling onboard a flight out of the UK filmed what appeared to be an unidentified flying object (UFO) out of their window.

They were flying over the North Sea when the mystifying object appeared within view of their plane.

Multiple passengers - including the passenger from Birmingham - described witnessing an object that looked like a 'floating blob-like shape' and recalled how it 'morphed and changed directions' while in the air.

The UFO reportedly stayed visible to passengers for between five and 10 minutes before vanishing.

The object was captured onboard a British Airways flight, flying from London, England, to Copenhagen in Denmark, on Thursday morning, December 19.

The aircraft departed London's Heathrow Airport at 7.03am and the UFO was spotted 'around midway over the North Sea'.

Incredible video footage taken by a passenger onboard - which can be viewed above - showed a dark object in the distance and at a similar height to the plane.

The object was silhouetted against a colour sunrise, with a mass of clouds beneath the UFO and plane.

The UFO at first appeared long and thin, and horizontal in the sky, before it transitioned into a ball-like shape while gliding in the air.

Another video clip showed the object then transforming back into a long and thin shape but facing the other direction.

In both clips, the 'tail' end of the object appeared to less defined. The object left passengers stumped, unsure as to what was in the sky next to them.

It comes as UFO and drone sightings in New Jersey and England have made headlines in recent weeks. Mystery drone sightings in the US have sparked intrigue.

Drone have also reportedly been seen over a US airbase in eastern England last month.
