https://www.israelhayom.com/2024/12/23/former-mossad-agents-reveal-how-rigged-devices-decimated-hezbollah/

Inside Mossad's decade-long deception: The pager mission that crippled Hezbollah

"They'll have to keep on trying to guess what the next thing is," an agent told the CBS flagship program "60 Minutes." According to the former agents, Hezbollah acquired more than 16,000 of the weaponized walkie-talkies through an elaborate network of shell companies established by Mossad.

In an extraordinary 60 Minutes broadcast Sunday, former Mossad agents pulled back the curtain on one of Israel's most sophisticated covert operations, revealing how thousands of doctored pagers and walkie-talkies distributed to the Iran-backed Hezbollah exploded across Lebanon this September.

According to the CBS News report, the intelligence agency spent a decade infiltrating Hezbollah's supply chain with weaponized communication devices that ultimately helped turn the tide of war in Lebanon. In a devastating moment for the organization's leadership, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah was reportedly forced to witness the deaths of his own security detail inside his bunker as their compromised communication devices detonated.

Speaking through masks and using pseudonyms, two retired senior agents described to CBS correspondent Lesley Stahl how they transformed ordinary walkie-talkies and pagers into precision weapons that detonated across Lebanon this September.

"A walkie-talkie was a weapon just like a bullet or a missile or a mortar," explained the agent identified as Michael, describing the operation's first phase. When Stahl pressed for details about the device's construction, Michael revealed that "inside the battery, there is an explosive device," which was "made in Israel" at a Mossad facility.

The ingenuity of the operation lay not just in the technical execution but in the elaborate deception campaign that accompanied it. Through a network of shell companies and fake business entities, Mossad managed to sell more than 16,000 explosive-laden walkie-talkies to Hezbollah over several years, 60 Minutes reported.

By 2022, emboldened by the success of the walkie-talkie operation, Mossad expanded its strategy to include weaponized pagers. However, the transition wasn't smooth. "I remember the day that I came to our director, put it on the table. And he was furious," recalled the second agent, identified as Gabriel. "He was telling us, 'There is no chance that anyone will buy such a big device. It's not comfortable in their pocket. It's heavy.'"

Despite initial skepticism, Gabriel spent two weeks convincing Mossad leadership that the pager's apparent drawbacks could be turned into selling points. The agency launched a sophisticated marketing campaign, creating fake YouTube advertisements that promoted the devices as premium products.

"We make advertising movies and brochures, and we put it on internet. And it became the best product in the pager area in the world," Gabriel told Stahl. The marketing was so effective that Mossad had to field purchase requests from legitimate customers, which they deflected by quoting exorbitant prices.

The operation's success hinged on maintaining an impenetrable facade of legitimacy. Mossad established a partnership with Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese pager manufacturer, through front companies. "When they are buying from us, they have zero clue that they are buying from the Mossad," Gabriel explained. "We make like 'Truman Show,' everything is controlled by us behind the scene. In their experience, everything is normal. Everything was 100% kosher including businessman, marketing, engineers, showroom, everything."

The technical sophistication of the operation extended to the devices' design. Each pager underwent extensive testing to ensure precise effects. "We test everything, triple, double, multiple times in order to make sure there is minimum damage," Gabriel said. The agency even conducted research on average response times to pager alerts – approximately seven seconds – and engineered specific ringtones to maximize user engagement.

When Stahl inquired about the detonation mechanism, Gabriel revealed the deadly efficiency of the design. Users received messages claiming to contain encrypted information that required pressing two buttons to access. However, as Gabriel explained, "It's the same effect. It gonna explode anyway." The final detonation signals were triggered from Israel.

On Sept. 17, at precisely 3:30 p.m., thousands of pagers began beeping across Lebanon. The following day, the decade-old walkie-talkies were activated, some detonating at funerals for victims of the pager attacks. The precision of the devices was evident in videos reviewed by 60 Minutes, showing explosions that wounded pager carriers while leaving nearby individuals unharmed.

cont.

"A day after the pagers exploded, people were afraid to turn on the air conditioners in Lebanon because they were afraid that they would explode," Michael told Stahl, describing the psychological impact of the operation. "So there was real fear."

The aftermath of the attacks demonstrated their strategic effectiveness. According to Gabriel, the operation wasn't primarily about inflicting casualties. "If he's just dead, so he's dead," he explained. "But if he [is] wounded, you have to take him to the hospital, take care of him. You need to invest money and effort. And those people without hands and eyes are living proof, walking in Lebanon, of 'don't mess with us.'"

The combined attacks resulted in approximately 30 fatalities, including two chi

ldren, and wounded around 3,000 people. In the aftermath, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah delivered what former agents described as an uncharacteristically subdued speech, before being killed in an Israeli airstrike on his bunker on Sept. 27. A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect at the end of November.

Musk accuses ‘legacy media’ of lying

Reports that the Magdeburg Christmas market terrorist was “Islamophobic” don’t hold water, the billionaire believes

Billionaire Elon Musk has accused “legacy media” of “lying again,” reacting to the coverage of the vehicular terrorist attack in the German city of Magdeburg.

A car mowed through a crowd of holiday goers at a Christmas market last Friday evening, killing at least five people and injuring scores of others.

The suspect was identified by authorities as a Saudi national with a prior criminal record. According to local media, the 50-year-old is a vocal Islamophobe, who has been residing in Germany since 2006. Riyadh had contacted Berlin to red flag him as a security risk.

Musk, who has called for Chancellor Olaf Scholz to resign over the incident, has accused the media of lying about the suspect’s views, reposting on Sunday on X a message by a popular conservative account relaying the same message.

The close ally of President-elect Donald Trump has a long record of sparring with mainstream news outlets, particularly those in the US. He claims that they have a strong left-wing bias, while conservative voices are rarely heard on many platforms. He has also accused some news organizations, such as Reuters, of writing hit pieces targeting his businesses.

Explosion rocks South Korean military base

Three people were injured in the incident, according to the authorities

A blast has rocked a military base in South Korea during an inspection of facilities storing hazardous materials, the Yonhap news agency has reported, citing police and firefighting officials.

Three people were injured in the incident, which happened on Monday morning at a logistics center in the city of Gimhae, 310km southeast of Seoul, according to the agency.

All of the victims are civilians. They suffered burns, with medics describing their condition as non-threatening, Yonhap added.

According to the news agency, the explosion took place during an inspection of a recently constructed tank facility for hazardous materials.

The reasons for the blast are currently being investigated, it said.

In October, a failed launch of a Hyunmoo-2 short-range ballistic missile caused an explosion and a major fire at a South Korean military base in the eastern coast city of Gangneung, local media reported. There were no injuries as result of the incident, which occurred during joint US-South Korean drills.

Later the same month, a blaze ravaged a warehouse of the US Forces Korea (USFK) in the port city of Busan. It took firefighters 19 hours to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported. The warehouse was empty due to renovations, according to the US military.

Selling bodies, selling souls: The false freedom of prostitution and surrogacy

It’s hard to see much moral difference between flogging organs and providing “sex services”

Today there are three forms of alienation of the unconditional right to one’s own body: prostitution, commercial surrogacy, and organ donation. Strictly speaking, there’s a fourth – hiring oneself out for hard manual labor – but let’s skip economic theory for now. Three will suffice for this discussion.

Prostitution. Womb trafficking. Organ sales. Paid organ donation is banned almost everywhere because the world agrees no one should be driven to sell themselves piece by piece. But commercial surrogacy? Still legal in South Africa, some US states, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Ukraine – and, shamefully, Russia. The rich can legally buy the health of the poor.

Think about it: poor women driven to sell their wombs, their health, their tears. Pregnancy wrecks the body – it can lead to varicose veins, diabetes, organ failure, heart problems, and other life-threatening complications. Carrying someone else’s baby only compounds the risks.

Defenders of paid surrogacy chant two familiar slogans: “Her body, her choice” and “Helping women who can’t conceive.” But let’s look at the places allowing only unpaid surrogacy, like Finland or some American states. The waiting lists for free surrogates stretch for years. No one volunteers unless there’s cash involved.

If a woman gives birth for money, is it really “her choice,” or is she forced by poverty? If we accept selling the body this way, what’s next? Organ markets? Imagine campaigns saying, “Support kidney donors’ rights!” or “Let people profit from their lungs!”

Legal organ sales would unleash horrors. No one could prove donors volunteered. Families would be kidnapped, lives held hostage. Transplant agents would stalk clinics, hunting matches in medical records. The rich would survive. The poor would be harvested.

We ban organ sales because no one should be driven to that point. Any state allowing it would be declaring the right to push its citizens into desperate poverty.

Let’s look at the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, which was observed on Tuesday.

See the trap here? It’s not about fighting prostitution – the ultimate forced sale – but about making prostitution more “comfortable.” Red umbrella marches demand better “working conditions.”

Who runs the “sex work rights” movement? Men. It’s male-run groups lobby for the “protection,” pensions, paid leave. They are fighting for one thing: the right to buy people.

Read Alexander Kuprin’s novel ‘Yama: The Pit’, first published in the 1910s. Husbands trick wives into brothels. Girls are trapped by “marriage.” Legal whorehouses meant endless supplies of ruined women.

Prostitution, surrogacy, and organ sales are the same. Legalize the buyer, and you legalize pushing someone into selling themselves.

The Swedish model against ‘the sex industry’ – criminalizing the buyer, not the seller – is the only system that works. No legal loopholes. No illusions of “choice.”

The rest is just trafficking in disguise.

Twenty years ago, the European Parliament adopted a resolution demanding criminal penalties for clients of prostitutes. But many human rights organizations opposed extending the Swedish model across Europe.

Amnesty International, for example, strongly opposes criminalizing clients and banning prostitution, claiming to defend “sex workers’ rights.” Even within the UN, an entire department initially fought against criminalizing sex work, only adopting a “neutral” stance after a massive outcry from 1,400 public figures.

Do you know what this department is called? The Department for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.

Selling ourselves – empowering ourselves. Imagine that.

The lie of “choice” in exploitation

Proponents of legal prostitution like to argue that sex work is a personal decision, a job like any other. They say criminalizing it denies women agency. But is agency real when poverty is the driving force? It’s like arguing that someone “chooses” to sell a kidney when they’re starving.

Legalization hides coercion. Once prostitution is legal, no one checks whether a woman is in a brothel by choice or force. Traffickers thrive under legal protection. The “sex work industry” becomes just that: a business profiting from human suffering.

Countries such as Sweden have proven that punishing buyers while protecting sellers works. It’s not perfect, but trafficking rates plummet, and women trapped in prostitution receive support instead of punishment. Legalization offers none of that.

In the end, we must decide: Is the right to profit from someone else’s body more important than the right not to be driven into selling it? The answer should be obvious.

Historical lessons ignored

Biden’s officials trying to destroy Trump’s push for peace – Moscow

The outgoing US administration’s policies are “risky, even self-destructive,” according to Russian deputy FM Sergey Ryabkov

The outgoing administration of US President Joe Biden is doing everything to make sure that President-elect Donald Trump will not be able to facilitate peace in the Ukraine conflict once he returns to the White House in January, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has said.

The policy currently pursued by the White House is “quite risky, even self-destructive,” Ryabkov told RT in an exclusive interview on Saturday. “We caution them against it,” the diplomat added.

He was referring to the permission given by Washington to Kiev to carry out strikes deep into Russian territory with American-made weapons, and an increase in arms deliveries to Ukraine, which happened after Biden’s loss to Trump in November’s election.

”The outgoing US administration demonstrates a unique capability of doubling down and destroying the chances of its successor,” Trump, of fulfilling his campaign promise of swiftly finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, the deputy FM stressed.

There have been several strikes with US- and UK-supplied missiles on internationally recognized Russian territory in recent weeks, with the deadliest coming on Friday as five people were killed and twelve others wounded after the Kiev forces targeted the town of Rylsk in Russia’s Kursk Region with an American HIMARS system.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned last month that Russia will respond to all such attacks and could go as far as using “weapons against military facilities of those countries that allow the use of their weapons against our facilities.”

Ryabkov also commented on various ideas voiced in the West about how peace between Russia and Ukraine could look, saying that Moscow is considering them, but views them as “informal.”

“They are a way to probe our position, but that is absolutely unnecessary as the President has repeatedly laid it out in full,” he explained.

Newsom Didn’t Pay the State’s Debt So He Surprised Businesses

Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and Democrat legislators failed to repay a $20 billion federal COVID loan on time, so Gruesome Newsom passed the costs down to overtaxed and unsuspecting business owners.

This is after Newsom forced the closure of small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Businesses were hit with an extra $21 per employee in payroll taxes because California’s Democrats didn’t repay the federal loan.

It will increase by $21 more for each employee until the debt is paid.

Did the U.S. Government Orchestrate Regime Change In Syria? Thomas Massie Thinks So.

Following the events that led to the Syrian government falling, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) accused the Biden government of facilitating the regime change in Syria that led to rebels storming the capital of Damascus and overthrowing dictator Bashar Assad’s regime.

During an interview with former FOX News anchor Clayton Morris, Massie pointed fingers at the federal government and suggested the “deep state” in orchestrating a domino effect to achieve long-held geopolitical goals.

Massie, who collaborated with Tulsi Gabbard, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the nation’s Intelligence Community, on efforts to stop the United States from meddling in Syria, believes this worked as a signal to the deep state to “go in for the kill” because they knew Trump and his cabinet picks would not “carry on the policies of Obama and the deep state.”

Morris nodded to the conspicuous timing of the events, asserting that the overthrow of the Syrian government was done before Trump assumed office so they could place the CIA’s plan into motion in the country.

"It’s clear as day to me. Whether it was led by the United States or whether we just encouraged it, definitely the timing is not a mistake. When you find a turtle on a fence post, it didn’t get there by accident. For instance, some of the stronger powers that be, like Israel, used their military forces to bomb the dozens of jets and helicopters in Syria. Basically, what these terrorists couldn’t do, other people in the Middle East hurried up and did here in this last week to make sure that Assad didn’t have the typical resources that a government would have to respond to these threats," Massie said.
