The government of Panama should have built that canal themselves if they wanted to operate a canal.
Did the US buy that land from Panama initially?
Or did the US just go down there and start digging a trench on someone else's property?

Here's an idea.
Drop bombs on the Panama Canal and open it up as a natural waterway. International waters. No locks necessary to raise and lower ships. The waterway would be much wider than a canal. A lot more ships could pass thru without any cost at all. Or very little cost.
Or Rods of God bunker busters.
It would be like the Strait of Gibraltar or the Bosphorus Strait
Well, I guess that would change if it were to become the Strait of Panama instead of the Panama Canal.
Maybe a "meteor" will hit it and open it up as a Strait.
But the Panama Canal is only 50 miles long.
A strategically placed "meteor" could hit it just right and create a Strait.
It doesn't need to be 50 miles wide, just strategically placed.
