60 Minutes Gets Dragged on Twitter/X Over Story Praising Gun Control Policies in Mexico

Over the weekend, 60 Minutes did a story about gun control in Mexico, pointing out that the country has only one gun store and that it’s located on a military base.

Twitter/X users were quick to point out that Mexico is basically run by violent, murderous drug cartels which are armed to the teeth.

60 Minutes went out of their way to push a narrative about illegal guns in Mexico coming from the U.S., as if the violence south of the border is somehow America’s fault. Have they heard of a program called Fast and Furious that happened under Obama?

From CBS News:

Like the U.S., Mexico’s constitution grants citizens the right to bear arms…. but unlike the U.S., that right comes with a long list of restrictions.

There’s only one gun store in Mexico…in the middle of a heavily guarded military base in Mexico City…we were allowed in.

But before customers can enter, they have to show proof they’ve passed psychological tests, drug screens and extensive background checks.

The store sells about a thousand guns a month. Mostly, shotguns, small caliber rifles, and handguns… what civilians can’t buy here are the weapons the cartel favors. Those are not legally sold anywhere in Mexico.

This is the tweet that set people off:

Here are some reactions:

So little gun violence in Mexico. Whatever they're doing, it's working!! pic.twitter.com/qIjh47aLWC

You guys are such a joke

— Mollie (@MZHemingway) December 23, 2024

This doesn't apply to cartels who have enough firepower to win battles against the Mexican army

It only prevents Mexicans from defending themselves

So Mexico is really safe then, right? https://t.co/tiWtLlxnps

— Jack Poso (@JackPosobiec) December 23, 2024

You can tell this method is working by looking at Mexico’s extremely low crime rate. https://t.co/J5BbgbWm18

There’s “only one gun store” with heavy restrictions for “civilian use” and yet Mexico is one of the most violent countries in the world.

What a joke. https://t.co/EWutKPgkQr

Ah, so that explains why there are no gun murders in Mexico. https://t.co/Ds4L77ymBt

The cartels are still hanging headless bodies from the overpasses but rest assured that it’s super difficult for citizens to get a gun. https://t.co/k8QmSMgJpH

Triple-Amputee Vet Dying In Prison For Building A Border Wall Prays for Pardon

President Trump, millions of Americans have the highest hope that triple-amputee Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage will be pardoned.

Kolfage is slowly dying in a federal prison because he had a border wall built. The lack of proper care for this war hero is shocking.

Kolfage was wrongfully imprisoned by the infamous SDNY Democrat operatives over being paid an approved salary for his part in getting miles of privately funded border wall built in Texas and New Mexico. His colleague who worked with him on the border wall project, Timothy Shea, is also languishing in prison and should be pardoned as well.

Kolfage was sentenced to 51 months by the same DOJ operation that targeted Trump. Stephen K. Bannon was pardoned by President Trump for these same charges. Following the pardon, Alvin Bragg charged Bannon through the state of New York.

Kolfage founded We Build the Wall to build border walls when the government would not because of Democratic Party obstruction.

Below is a short video from when we were just completing construction of the wall.

Because of his service to his country and his sacrifice, Kolfage will never hop out of bed ever again. He will never run around with his kids or his wife. He will never go for a swim, ride a bike, or play sports with his children.

Left on his own without any assistance, Kolfage would have to crawl on the nubs of his legs, using his left arm to drag himself across the ground to move. He will never, ever live a normal life like most of us. For that reason alone this war hero deserves a pardon.

US citizen sentenced to 15 years for espionage in Russia

The trial of Eugene Spector has taken place behind closed doors due to the classified nature of the materials in the case

A Moscow court has sentenced US citizen Eugene ‘Gene’ Spector to 15 years in prison after finding him guilty of espionage. He will serve his sentence at a maximum security penal colony, the judge ruled at a hearing on Monday.

Spector, who is the former chair of the board of Russia’s Medpolymerprom Group, which supplies disposable medical items, was also fined 14 million rubles (around $140,000).

The defendant was handed the punishment in conjunction with his previous sentencing for acting as an intermediary in a bribery case involving an aide of former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.

The trial in the Moscow City Court was held behind closed doors due to the materials of the case being classified.

The sentence has not yet entered into force, meaning Spector’s defense are able to appeal to the ruling.

In 2022, the US citizen of Russian origin was handed 3.5 years behind bars for providing Dvorkovich’s aide, Anastasiya Alekseyeva, with free trip vouchers between 2015 and 2016 in order for her to promote the products of several pharmacy companies.

A court ordered the arrest of Spector on suspicion of espionage in August last year. The details of the case against the 51-year-old had not been disclosed to the public.

This August, Russia and the US exchanged a total of 26 prisoners held in several countries, in the largest such deal since the end of the Cold War. Wall Street Journal correspondent Evan Gershkovich and former US Marine Paul Whelan – both of whom were convicted of espionage in Russia – were sent to the West as well as 14 other foreign agents, opposition activists, and criminals.

In return, ten Russian nationals, whom Washington accused of being intelligence agents and cybercriminals, were delivered to Moscow. The most prominent name on the list was Vadim Krasikov, an FSB agent who was convicted of the murder of a former Chechen militant commander in Germany in 2021.
