Mossad ran fake YouTube ads for pagers to get Lebanese Hezbollah to buy them before the devices exploded in September.

 

Two former Israeli intelligence officers shared information with CBS News. They collected the main points:

 

— Since 2022, the Israeli MOSSAD has been developing pagers that could hold enough explosives. They were tested on dummies;

 

— the devices were shown in fake ads, presented as durable, waterproof and with a long battery life. Fake reviews were also posted online;

 

— for production, MOSSAD created front companies, one of them in Hungary;

 

  • Israeli intelligence received a licensing partnership to make everything look legitimate for Hezbollah;

 

— The pager seller didn't know he was working with the MOSSAD. The first batch of gadgets was offered to Hezbollah for free. By September 2024, there were about 5,000 devices in the pockets of the movement's members.
