Russia unleashed a massive aerial attack using missiles and drones on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called the Christmas Day assault "inhuman."

"Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas to attack. What could be more inhuman? More than 70 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and more than a hundred attack drones," the Ukrainian president wrote on Telegram.

Church of England Priests Told to Change ‘Problematic’ Christmas Hymns: Report

Church of England clergy have reportedly been told to make changes to popular Christmas carols to avoid “causing unnecessary offence”.

A whistleblowing vicar has claimed that priests throughout England have been urged to modify Advent hymns and Christmas carols, The Telegraph reports.

According to the broadsheet, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel was identified as being potentially offensive for suggesting that other religions are “outside of God’s grace”.

Additionally, Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending had been flagged for containing “problematic words” because it affirms that Jesus Christ is the “true Messiah”.

In an email sent out to the diocese in Birmingham, priests were reportedly told: “Try to use language that won’t add further confusion or tension or take away anything from the good news of the Nativity.”

It's trivial to calculate the CFR if you got a Pfizer shot. But I don't think anyone has before now. So I'm going to do it for the very first time.

Executive summary

The case fatality rate (CFR) from the Pfizer trial shows you are 10X more likely to die if you get COVID and you are vaccinated.

Pfizer just forgot to point this out.

Same with the CDC and FDA. I’m sure they just forgot.

So I’m going to show you that the CFR is 10X higher for Pfizer and when you combine that with a 40% higher likelihood of being infected, we can now estimate that the COVID vaccine makes you 14X more likely to die from COVID. And that’s not counting your risk of all-cause mortality from the vaccine itself!

Biden signs 50 bills into law on Christmas Eve

President Biden signed 50 bills into law on Christmas Eve, as the year and his time in office draw to a close.

The bills Mr. Biden signed include socialite and activist Paris Hilton's bill to protect teenagers living in residential treatment facilities, a bill setting anti-hazing standards on college campuses, and a bill preventing members of Congress from collecting pensions if convicted of certain crimes.

Hilton is the force behind the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act, which passed the House and Senate last week. The legislation creates a federal work group on youth residential programs to oversee the health, safety, care, treatment and placement of minors in rehab and other facilities. The new law is personal for Hilton, who has testified before Congress that she faced abuse in such facilities as a teen.

Another measure the president signed, S. 932, prohibits members of Congress convicted of crimes related to public corruption from receiving their retirement payments. Previous law allowed members to continue to receive checks only after the exhaustion of all appeals. The new bipartisan law comes after Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey was found guilty this year of using his political influence to benefit businessmen and foreign governments in return for bribes.

The Stop Campus Hazing Act requires higher education institutions to disclose hazing incidents reported to campus or local police authorities in their annual security reports. The new law also requires schools to teach students about the dangers of hazing, among other things.

Yet another new law, S. 4610, makes the bald eagle the official bird of the U.S. The federal government had never designated an official bird.

On Monday, the president granted clemency to 37 of the 40 federal inmates facing death sentences, commuting their sentences to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The move prompted both consternation and praise. Mr. Biden also vetoed a bill on Monday that would have created 66 new federal judgeships, saying the House had rushed it through without resolving important issues about how it would be implemented.

Ukraine is interested in stabilizing the situation in Syria and the entire region and will support the necessary efforts of partners.

We believe it is crucial for the security of the Syrian people and the region as a whole to remove any Russian presence from Syria.

We are grateful to every state and every leader who is ready to help Syrian society restore normal life and build effective state institutions. We will certainly support Syria in ensuring food security—necessary decisions on our part have already been made, and Ukraine is ready to supply food.

We are ready to work with the representatives of the Syrian people to correct the mistakes of the Assad regime, especially regarding Ukraine and all of Europe.

Today, we also received a report from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi on the frontline and the areas of the Kursk operation. There are risks of North Korea sending additional troops and military equipment to the Russian army, and we will have tangible responses to this. Now, according to preliminary data, the number of North Korean soldiers killed and wounded in the Kursk region has already exceeded 3,000.

It is important for the world to understand that the risk of destabilization around the Korean Peninsula and in neighboring regions or waters increases proportionally with the growing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. The transfer of modern warfare experience and the proliferation of military technologies from Russia is a global threat. For the world, the cost of restoring stability is always much higher than the cost of effectively pressuring those who destabilize the situation and destroy lives.
