So, all the H1B's Elon currently employs are Tesla level geniuses? I don't believe Tesla was recruited to replace an American worker. There is a huge difference in a Tesla coming here vs bringing in cheaper labor.

This only works if the hiring system is reformed. Applying for a tech job generally means going through a recruiter. Most of then seem to be Indian. Can imagine no one will fit the bill except another Indian. "Sorry, there were no qualified American citizens."

Going to have to have companies do their own job recruitment. Oh, and an HR that actually has some tech knowledge, not some social sciences major who can only "relate" to people just like them. Autists make great tech people but they don't "relate" like social science types.

But really, that middle man recruiting has got to go.

Meanwhile lots of reform is needed in college curriculum's for science degrees.

College deans should be from the science branch, not arts. Experience with a college where, over the course of a students attendance, the science department was taken under the arts. Consequently, they tried to insist on more social sciences vs science. However, it stood that the requirements enrolled under had to be followed. Those coming after were shafted. Could not take the science they needed when so many requirements for the arts suddenly became part of the curriculum. ( And not everyone can afford to go out of state)

A broad education is good. Hijacking all four years for an agenda that negates technical learning is beyond the pale.

Some just need a chance to get started. College grads can't get that first entry level job. People who were kicked out but have experience sometimes get those jobs because they hire the 5 yr experience vs none because they can. It's a vicious cycle.
