That being said, having skillsets in routing, network engineering, X.500, various types of databases, programming, front end languages and design, goes way beyond what most can possibly imagine. To test someone on a cross section can only give you a glimpse. There are hundreds of languages, over 200 main database with various underlying technologies, networking among Linux, MS, Unix, and devices coupled with the routing and various protocols and security frameworks that all play a part into a concerted effort.

The game that is played is to test specifics and complain we need someone to hit the ground running. It takes time for even the best, consider a 1 million line code base of various libraries and frameworks that are constantly being upgraded and deprecated.
