Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Republican and the former Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II, was sworn in as the 34th president of the United States on January 20, 1953. This program included preparations for his inauguration, his oath of office, a portion of his address, and highlights of the inaugural parade.
